http://stlfiles.synthasite.com/ BTW, the "and more" is half way done, but the emphasis was that more will be coming. I am also offering free .stl's to experienced casters. PM me if you are interested. All funds will go through paypal. If you buy 2 puzzles, I will give you 10% off, buy 3 and you get 15% off and buy 4 or more, you get 20% off. (only offered when all of them are bought at the same time).

You should work on your pillowing skills. They look really rough.

How would you suggest to pillow a cube?

I may consider buying 3x3x5 files if you make and cast one, or if someone else does so I can see the quality of the puzzle.

I think what Garrett means is that the pillowing should be more smoothly rounded, if that makes sense.

Regarding the free be- (that's freebie). I'm not sure how many people will get a 1x1 printed, but it's a nice gesture to offer it for free. :)

I don't think you should be selling anything that is less than perfect. I don't think you should be trying to make money from things that aren't completely and absolutely perfect (like the pillow). Another hint: making glue-on extensions to the regular pieces might be preferable over printing and casting the entire cubies.

By the way, do the feet on your 3x3x5 have any tolerance? If they don't it's not gonna work without a lot of sanding. I would recommend at least 0.1-0.2mm of extra room between the foot and whatever is keeping it in.

Keep up the good work!

Thankyou, TomZ. I have included a tolerance picture. If memory serves, this has 1mm of room inside and .5mm room on the circles of the feet. Someone has already bought the 2x4x4 files, and I am sure that they are pillowed correctly. Based on their pictures, I will make my decision. If they are incorect, they only require a once over with sand paper, (which is required for the printed masters anyway).

1mm of tollerance? I hope you mean only in certain areas. If you subtract 1mm of space from all touching surfaces your puzzle is going to super loose.

only on the layers 1 and 5. the rest is as of a 3x3x3. do you think it should be less?

Just one fifth of it would be fine. Going with 1mm is overkill and would result in a loose puzzle. I believe on my 1x2x3 files I used .15mm.

Also something to be kept in mind is the shrinkage you'll get if you cast the puzzle

I use .1 between large faces and then .2 mm for small mech parts. 1mm is bigger than you think.

I do not have all of those features for the Ryan thomson pillowing.

If you can't do a proper pillow, I think you should avoid doing it altogether. Or practice it until you can get a proper one. I'm sure it is possible with the software you are using. If it isn't, you shouldn't be using it.

I played around with my CAD program for a while, and it appears that you can get some good results by just using the three boolean functions and a sphere (and whatever shape you want to pillow).

BAD NEWS! the 2x4x4 files are based on a center mechanism of the ES 2x2x2 and are so huge that they cost 185 sparse for masters, 2000 solid full. Well, good news is I just saved a bunch of money on my car insurance by swiching to gieco. I am in the process of designing one off of a mini 2x2x2 and will print if for a quality test.

That is only 1cm less, so we go back to the $185 masters. 1/8 the size=1/8 the price... kinda.
anyway, I have one that doesn't turn that bad. If I lube it
