I am now making some of my Cube Day puzzles available on my website direct sales page. I have repeated some of my previous post as a reminder below. UK buyers should contact me directly and others can also if they prefer a more personal purchase experience.

Locked Blocks

This puzzle is similar to my Slide Twist Twist Slide and Twisted Assembly puzzles. Like those it combines characteristics of an assembly puzzle with those of a twisty puzzle.
Some people complained that the other two were too hard so this is simpler and smaller but still far from easy. It has a 2x4x4 arrangement of pseudo blocks instead of the 3x4x4 on the others.
The puzzle consists of three separate parts that have to fit together. One of those parts is a locking piece. This is a single cubic piece that has to be removed before the puzzle can be further disassembled or twisted. The other two parts are extended 2x2x2 Rubik's Cubes. These parts can then be mixed up in the usual way. Some however intrude into the paths of others which causes blocking and prevent some moves some of the time.
Similar to my Slide Twist Twist Slide you can't just solve the parts and assemble them since a further twisting move is required during assembly. This is best shown in the video.
In choosing the name I combined the locking, blocking and the blocks it is made from.

I have just raised enough funds to buy the all golden Locked Blocks. It's been really good timing for me, because every time I want a puzzle from Tony's website, I have just enough to get it. BTW, I am a teenager, so I don't have a real job.

You'd actually be surprised at how much they sucker you in, to making arbitrary turns to try to get the pieces in place, and not seeing them as a twisty. Often, I catch myself twisting it around like a novice with a Pocket Cube and no real permutation plan. Remember the overhang bandaging too. They're very challenging, I haven't solved them yet (I purposefully made a quick scramble and didn't take account of the beginning positions).
