I know that many minor questions, when posted in, well, anywhere are an annoyance to those who don't feel like participating in them. But, they need to be answered.
Many questions aren't entirely worthy of their own threads, and many questions are minor and, to be frank, an annoyance to a lot of people. The community sidebar can become clogged with small questions, and the forums themselves become harder to browse.
The problem, though, is that the opinions of the general community are necessary to accurately answer these questions. One can't just PM a few people and expect a comprehensive answer (though there is a chance one may receive one), so all these questions end up being posted in their own threads.
There has to be a simple solution to this problem. I have two ideas, but more are definitely welcome.
1) Make a separate thread in General Puzzle Topics, where people post these kinds of small questions. The thing about this thread, though, is that people respond to the person by PM. The problem here is that if multiple people want to reference the answer to the questions, they aren't available for public viewing.
2) Make a separate subforum or mini applet-like thing which organizes the unanswered questions, etc. for public viewing, searching, etc. The obvious problem here is that nobody wants to spend the time to make something like that.
