Its called a "trip wonker" and it really does work. The longer and more intently you stare, the better it works. Things really do look like they are warping when you look away from it. And no, this one wont scream at you.

I had a great interest in optical illusions when I was a kid. Lately, I was surprised to find a whole category of them that I had no idea about. Those are still pictures that appear to move as you move your eyes or head.

Thanks for the additional links, guys! Now I'm even happier I started this. For the "trip wonker" I suggest getting relatively close to the screen (maybe 20cm) because then a larger portion of your view will be effected an thus when you look somewhere else (e.g. your hand) the effect will be larger, too.
