Today I'd like to present a milestone puzzle design for me: the Gear Cube II

This puzzle is a variation on Oskar's Gear cube/Caution cube, but has some changes. Firstly, the corner pieces now have gears, which can rotate along with the edge gears like in the Gear Pyraminx:

The orientation of the gears is also different, as the gears now have teeth where the gaps of the original gear cube used to be.
The gear ratio is 6:9:24. The first 2 numbers were chosen to be very similar to the original gear cube, but adding the 9-tooth gear meant the final number had to be changed from 20 to 24. This unfortunately means the puzzle doesn't scramble very well, as the edge gears don't change their orientation with face turns.
You can also turn a face by 45 degrees and only turn the gears on one layer, or the opposite layer:

Believe it or not, this puzzle even allows 90 degree face turns, due to the way that the gears are placed:

Unfortunately, the quality of the puzzle is far from perfect. When doing face turns, the corners often turn on their own, causing the gears to skip. The grooves are also very shallow on the inside which leads to frequent pops. The center caps also come out very easily. In the future I will add a clicking mechanism to the corner gears, which would fix the first problem, and rework the inner mechanism a bit to make it more solid.
