Hi Fellow Puzzlers,
I'm pleased to introduce the RotoPrism 2VB. The "VB" in the name stands for "visual blocking". This is because the phantom axes that appear on the original RotoPrism 2
are now visually blocked, thus no longer appearing as phantom axes on RotoPrism 2VB. This makes the puzzle a bit less confusing to solve, and to mix up. Quite a few of the people who have tried to play with original RotoPrism 2 the puzzle have struggled just to mix it up, and this new version is intended to address that issue.
RotoPrism 2VB is available for sale in my Shapeways shop
Here is a video of RotoPrism 2VB
RotoPrism 2VB uses exactly the same mechanism as the original RotoPrism 2. Rather than completely "un-modding" the shape to the fully triangular prism (as with the RotoPrism 2 (prismatic)
), I decided to retain most of the rounding of the RotoPrism 2. This keeps much of the aesthetic of that puzzle, while still minimizing shape-shifting and eliminating the phantom axis problem. It also holds the puzzle to a reasonable size, as a fully prismatic version with the same inner core mechanism would become quite large.

Note how in the last two pictures the phantom axes that appear to be available to turn on RotoPrism 2 are visually blocked on the RotoPrism 2VB puzzle. This is clearest in the final photo, where the yellow/red/green slice looks like it should be able to turn on the first puzzle, but is clearly blocked from turning by the adjacent pieces on the second puzzle.
Hopefully all of that is clear, but let me know if there are any questions.
