I'm very proud to present the fifth Radiolarian, the "Cat's Cradle".

This puzzle is the deepest face turning icosahedron built with icosahedral shape. The cut depth creates small groups of tiny fractured acute parts near the edges that remind me of the "Cat's Cradle", a game played with a loop of string criscrossing between fingers.

This is the second design and print of this puzzle, this one being a major redesign of the mechanism. With this version I am very happy with the movement, which feels excellent.

The radiolarians can all jumble, but this one adds a new jumbling move where three of the cat's cradle pieces can rotate away independantly. The jumbling results are shown in the 4th (standard jumble) and 5th (deep jumble) images. (Can you find them?...) :D

Also, I made a very short video:

Thank you!

Wow! Those tiny pieces really can get pretty jumbled, huh?
This has to be my favorite of the Radiolarian series!

Well done Jason, your best puzzle by far! I remember trying to design the dodecahedral version of this, and I couldn't get any mechanism on some of the pieces, no matter what I did. The fact that you managed to get a functioning mechanism is an accomplishment on its own, let alone the turning on it. Well done, excellent puzzle. :)

Very nice!

Inching ever closer to a deep-cut puzzle... I hope!

What an awesome puzzle, Jason! And I love the name. :) It brings back happy childhood memories from early elementary school, when playing string games and trying to solve my first Rubik's cube were among my favorite activities.

It has been great to see you getting back into puzzle designing lately. Can't wait to see what you are up to next. :)

Thanks everyone for the nice comments!
Luke, it's fun to hear about your design. I can relate. This is my second design of this puzzle!

Thanks again all!
