Just saw this, and the V-cube's site has had a design update.

https://www.v-cubes.com/index.php?option=com_mijoshop&route=product/product&product_id=105

Still want to know the mech, and I guess it will be soon

EDIT:

I saw the "design your cube" area... I couldn't resist. Apparently it includes a "sticker editor" to have them print custom stickers for your puzzle of choice. V-2 and 3 flat and pillowed are available, and it feels like MS-Paint  . It gives the option for a 3D view of your stickers on the puzzle you chose. And I just found it funny.

EDIT #2:

Yes, it is MS-Paint implemented in the sticker designer. I know this because I opened paint to save the image.... The icons and such are the same. I like this.

I really love their new Website layout. I'm going to wait and see what the V6b is like before I buy it also with the create a cube.

Misterchris, I believe those are just sticker mods, but they are still really cool.

The old V-cube 6x6 was crap it was clicky popped allot and middle layer misalignments. If you wanted a good working 6x6 you would had to mod it and that is not an easy thing to do and somewhat a risky thing to do.

hello

michael, on the vcube facebook page they claim that this new one turns better than the v7. It will either have the same mech as their v4 or the same mech as the v8.

pete, unfortunately I don't have a youtube account. I can't make youtube vids as I am a talentless old fool.

hopefully mine should arrive thursday. I will tell all of you how it turns and what the mech is. I will try and post some photos as well. I ordered a duo (flat & pillowed).

I just thought that their would have been a few more people who would have ordered it like the v8 thread.

Thats for the new V-cube 6x6 but the older one that came out 6 years ago had a clicky mech.

I didn't see this one coming, but I could definitely go for a good-turning pillowed 6. I'll look around for some first impressions.

I know not everyone saw it coming, but I mentioned both having photos from the V-Cubes facebook page in this thread: http://twistypuzzles.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=26488

They mentioned the 6b would be released a few weeks after the V-8. Not many saw my post, so I'm not surprised.

And I'm wanting to see the mech most. And stickers I'm assuming won't be the same as the V5 to 7... Disappointing, but hey, still got the puzzle.

hello

I just got my v-cubes. The flat one is the old one.
The pillowed one has the same mech as the v4. You get a free set of stickers with the pillowed. It is also adjustable.
First impressions: it moves very smoothly. it sounds like the v8.
Going to play with it for a few days.
If they bring out the flat version with the new mech then I think it has speed cube potential. more later.

I purchased the V-Cube 2, 3, and 4 as DIY kits. I actually enjoy putting these together. Anyone know if the V-Cube 6b or the V-Cube 8 will be offered as DIY kits at some point?

Carl

Due to part count I doubt it that there will be DIY kits.
