I have cast a new puzzle in both black and white color called the Curvy Rhombic Dodecahedral Megaminx, or CRDM for short. (I've been told that sounds catchier...) This was my first time working with black Alumilite resin, and though I'm not quite satisfied with the finished puzzle, I believe it turned out relatively well. My dad and I experimented with a polishing wheel which we used on the final puzzle to enhance the color of the resin. I'm not planning on selling it, however, because of some noticeable color variations and an unpleasant marbled effect in the plastic. Plus, I've begun noticing some air bubbles that have recently developed under the stickers which I know weren't there a few days ago. The white one, on the other hand, is almost perfect quality in terms of appearance and smoothness. Enjoy the video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ph9MFYoVQXU

I think that Tony Fisher is the world expert on bubbling stickers on cast pieces! Maybe he can offer some advice? Also, I've found that you have to be very careful when polishing plastic parts; if you use a polishing wheel to speed up the process, if too much heat is generated then it can effect the surface of the plastic

Thank you! I don't think heat was the problem in the polishing; my dad was pretty careful about it. I'll keep that in mind, though.

Very nice! I actually like the look of the black more than the white.

The third megaminx in rhombic dodecahedral shape. Well made. The masters were from Shapeways in the transparent Objet material. I know you made one, who else did?

did you treat the masters? Or did you use them as they were? the product looks very slick and nice! I love the black one!! also, this puzzle kind of reminds me of your original Quirky Cube bc of the curvy cuts

The third megaminx in rhombic dodecahedral shape. Well made. The masters were from Shapeways in the transparent Objet material. I know you made one, who else did? That will be Adam G Cowan if I recall correctly, named Identity Crisis. There have been other rhombic dodecahedral megaminxes as well, with different shape-transform scheme.

There has been much talk about how to solve this problem. I think Lee Tutt used to bake the parts in an oven though the easiest solution is just to wait. I use a different polyurethane resin and it takes up to six months to settle down. You may get away with re-applying the same stickers or need to add new ones. Nice puzzle BTW.

Gorgeous puzzle! I absolutely love it. Well done on the great build. It's nice to see people are still using the old school methods of puzzle building today when so few still do.
