This variation was made from a 3x3x3 (no surprise) and resembles a hexagonal dipyramid although not a perfect one. Compared with the well known hexagonal dipyramids this is smaller and made with the help of extensions.
I especially like the 12 fold symmetry it has.

I like this shape. You've turned the 3x3x3 face centers into edges, while keeping the 3x3x3 edges as edges and the 3x3x3 corners as corners. Interesting... What does the checkerboard pattern look like on this one?

Just insert a corner and truncate the remaining parts. Repeat this on the opposite corners.
