Hi Twisty Puzzles fans, Mosaic Block is a twisty puzzle with a novel geometry, discovered by Anthony Villaveiran. Unlike classical twisty puzzles, here the axes do not go through the same point. As a consequence, some pieces can shift position after some turns. Several people have contributed to the design of this puzzle in a discussion on the Twisty Puzzles Forum. Watch the YouTube video. Buy at my Shapeways Shop. Read more at the Shapeways Forum. Check out the photos below. Enjoy! Oskar Attachment:

This puzzle looks fantastic and its great to see it finally take physical form.

Awesome! It's been made. That was such a fun thread. This puzzle is incredibly complicated. It's not the most complicated one in the thread (for it's size) but it's a great example to show the concept. Here's a couple pics showing the oribits of the pieces. One thing most people won't realize is that Oskar can easily create similar variations and only need to redesign the core. I call this puzzle the 1x2x3 version because of the overlaps. Just by redesigning the core and reusing the other pieces, he can make 2x2x3 and 2x3x3 which both have some monster orbits too. stardust4ever wrote: Does it rotate at different depths, or three layers deep only? Only 3 layers.

Here's the list of puzzles you can make. 1x1x1 = 2x2x2 = 3x3x3, These are all the same, just different amounts of virtual bandaging. 1x1x2 = 1x1x3 1x2x2 = 1x3x3 1x2x3 2x2x3 2x3x3 Here's some a pic I did of the piece orbits on the last 2.

It is the Redi Cube. GuiltyBystander wrote: 1x1x2 = 1x1x3 1x2x2 = 1x3x3 These 2 would be best made with just 2 edge pieces moving with the corners but yes you can make an equivalent puzzle with these pieces which has 3 edges moving. GuiltyBystander wrote: 1x2x3 2x2x3 2x3x3 These are the 3 which would be best suited to be made with these pieces. You've made the 1x2x3 so that leaves the 2x2x3 and the 2x3x3 both of which would have fewer pieces then your 1x2x3 so you could just offer 2 new cores to those that purchase the 1x2x3 and they'd be able to build all 3. And some time ago Oskar sent be a sneak peak of 3 puzzles he was working on. This was 1 of them. I'm very eager to see the other two in action as well. Carl

I'm very happy to see this thing in motion. Thank you for giving me credit for the idea. It looks quite smooth to turn considering how many pieces move at once. Is it squishy? I'm assuming it's not to judging by the turning quality.

I'd love to experiment with short commutators on this one. Hoping to achieve easy edge and centers algorithms Per
