As you may have seen here, my most recent build is a rex rhombic dodecahedron. It is basically a DRD with deeper curvy cuts. After lubrication and breaking in, the turning is nearly flawless, and it hardly locks up. The puzzle is about 72mm tall, measuring from opposite faces. The stickers were cut by Olivér Nagy, with the color scheme based somewhat on that of the DRT.

When designing the puzzle, I accidentally left out 6 "caps", leaving gaps in the puzzle that are visible on certain turns. This can be seen in the third photo. This does not seem to affect the turning, but I have still decided to include these caps in the Shapeways version for aesthetic purposes.

This puzzle is available at Shapeways in two parts: The pieces, and the core, for a total of $139.98.

If you've seen this puzzle and my previous one, you can probably guess what's coming next.

This is amazing and the turning is great as well. I'm guessing a master DRD is next?

Fantastic job Will!

if I'm not mistaken, this is very similar to the dino+ 3x3, correct?

Well, sort of. The RRD edge pieces don't exist on the dino 3x3 (or at least not externally). Also, the corner pieces (3 at each dino 3x3 vertex) on a dino 3x3 do not behave the same as the equivelant (well, not really equivelant, but in the same place) pieces on the RRD. Someone please correct me if I am wrong.

Finally! I've known about this puzzle for far too long. This is by far my favourite from you (excusing the Void Petaminx). I really do hope I can own this masterpiece shortly.

Nope, this is not the same puzzle as a Dino 3x3x3. It is more similar to my Rainbow 3x3x3, although it is slightly less deep-cut so it does not have the 3x3x3 corners. However, the Rex Rhombic Dodecahedron does expose the internal "Corner Supports" that are not visible on the Rainbow 3x3x3.

File comment: Dino 3x3x3 (it is really hard to capture a Dino 3x3x3 as a Jaap's Sphere because the pieces are very tiny when projected on to a sphere)

What a beautiful set of cuts on this! I have always liked the Rex cuts but they look even better on the Rhombic Dodecahedron.

Great work!
