I started this back in March but school work prevented me from working on this puzzle until a couple of days ago. The motivation for making this mod is that in my Slice Cube post I said it was my simplest mod, forgetting the Dino Cube I made a while ago. So I had to mod the Dino into something more complicated and now I am presenting the Super-X which, in my opinion, is the most complicated mod I ever done. First of all, I'd like to thank Jesseking, JeongEC, Adam G Cowan, and Drewseph for showing how Super-X can be made. Jesse's thread: http://www.twistypuzzles.com/forum/view ... 15&t=12590Jesse's video demo: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7Ck17j8Y ... re=relatedJeongEC's thread and video: http://cafe.naver.com/cubemania.cafe?if ... id=250175&Drewseph's thread: http://www.twistypuzzles.com/forum/view ... 15&t=14220Drewseph's video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zuiYN4FiWRsI first started the modding process like Jesse showed. However, I found the eastsheen mini 2x2 is too stiff and has too little corner cutting for the puzzle to work nicely. So I butchered up my lanlan 2x2 like JeongEC did with his. The main difference between my mod and any other handmade Super X is that mine use magnets! As a result, the Dino cuts turn rather nicely, but the 2x2 cuts are not very good. The puzzle is prone to popping, I need to secure the eight arm spider of the Dino tightly on the corners of the 2x2, so far I haven't done that (I'll need to trim the screws or other rather complicated measures which I'll slowly experiment later). VIDEOhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BpjWfwB08GYThanks to eye2eye, the video is now on youtube! Here are the pictures: Attachment:

The corner with a core attached to it, btw, all the drilling, screw holes and magnet holes, are all done free handed (which Drewseph advised against doing in his thread), so it could be much better if I had better precision Attachment:

The use of magnets to stabilize Super X is first suggested by Scott Bedard, and implemented by Drewseph. In the pic, you can see the parts are pretty dirty, they are rubbing each other, collecting scum for three month now, sorry about the unsightliness. Attachment:

That is extremely cool. The craftsmanship is astonishing. Thanks to you I now really want to make one for myself. Well done.

I must say, the turning far surpasses my expectations! This is definitely if not one of the greatest super X's.

Thanks, everyone. But it is not as good as it looks. The puzzle pops a lot, it happens to behave well on camera. I need to adjust tension (which may involve trim screws or multiple washer arrangements) to avoid popping before I'm satisfied with it.

Even if it does have some problems with popping it's still fantastic! Will you sell one to me?

Maybe not this one, I am considering making another (there are several projects ahead of this one), if that one is to my satisfaction, I will probably sell that one.

Any chance someone out there with both can assist in making this more widely available (with Zhewei's approval, of course)? It looks very nice from the pictures, good work! Dave

Oh, I didn't realize you'll need an account to view the video even if the setting is "public". Sorry about that. I do have the original video, I can send it via email (very small file), so anyone who can help out please send me a pm of your email address, thanks a lot.
