well, after wanted and coveting a hexaminx forever and a day, i finally buckled down and built me one. it is far from perfect, based off a mefferts megaminx, it turns rather crappy and looks a bit uneven, mainly because this was more or less me learning and trying to make me a hexaminx. and having destroyed a few before, i took a bit of time with this, although it was all by hand/eye without really measuring and all the tech stuff... and it does show. BUT i now have me a hexaminx after forever. the next one i make will be a lot more focused. just wanted to share this one...
















redone the stickers, and a better paint job.although not as perfect as i would like, i think it looks a million times better. not on the level of some of the modders here, but i have a hexaminx!!

Not too bad! I would have spent a little more time getting it nice and squared off but for a first successful attempt that is pretty impressive.

I will give you one tip though. Redo the stickers very carefully. You will be amazed at how stickers make a puzzle look better. It's because your eyes are drawn to the bright colours more than the black plastic beneath.

well now that i have it finished, i will be tweaking it and tuning it up. the stickers will redone to each side, since they are not all unifirm in size. i want to mke a second, better vertsion of it, but this one is my first so it is a bit special to me... i may attempt to take six pieces and prfect them so i can try my hand at casting. not sure yet.

i have seen a few sticker making tutorials on you tube, but if you all have any advice or such, it would be welcome.

For basic sticker cutting use-

Pencil
Steel rule
Craft knife
A4 (approx sheet) of Perspex / Plexiglass to cut on.

Make one of each different shaped sticker ensuring it is perfect. Then make a stencil using the technique shown in this video at about 9.20- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XH6U8Z0wyqg .
Only change the shape of the stickers as a last resort when attaching. Meaning that it is better to keep the stickers the same than trim them too much to fit each puzzle part perfectly.
