I finally proudly present my 9x9x1, which can also be referred to as a royal floppy cube. The puzzle turned out excellent but has stability issues. The four layer cut doesn't go deep enough, so section large sections sometimes come out. This can be prevented by holding on certain areas when turned. I now stick with the general rule that every should be at least 5 millimeters to maximize stability. Other than that the puzzle is great, an is very clean cut. The stickers were a pain to put on, but everything turned out well in the end.

Amazing! I hope you can perfect your design to make it more stable. Looks great for the first print!

Amazing! I love it! I personally think this will do really well on Shapeways, just some food for thought. Some people may argue that it's not a Royal Floppy Cube, as some people based the original Floppy Cube not as an nxnx1, but as an nxnxn-2. I personally believe this is a Royal Floppy. This is a great acheivement. I only wish my 5x5x1 turns that well.

"Royal Floppy Cube." I love the sound of that! Well done on such a stupendous and remarkable achievement! Goodness knows how you designed it but MAJOR kudos go out to you!

Making your grips really large will rarely help with stability, getting a stable puzzle really depends on the general design of your cuts, not on the size. I stuck with the 4-5mm rule for a very long time, but really, even grips of 2mm will work fine in some cases.

After reading comments, I have decided to design a more stable version 2. It can be bought from my shapeways shop, and I will post a link to it when it is done. It will cost around $150.

Very, very nice puzzle! I don't know what it feels like exactly to turn, but it looked pretty stable to me! Awesome job!

That is shocking and very attractive. Regrettably, you have caught me at a very bad time (tax time) so I know that I am waaaaaay over budget right now . It is a good thing that payday is coming up . Anyways, I really like the curvy cuts (especially the strange sort of illusion created by the curvy cuts) and I am absolutely in love with the way that the checkerboard pattern looks. Hooray, you have created a puzzle that stirs me emotionally (only a select few puzzles do this)!

When I first read the title, I thought it was 1x1x9! This is so much better than that, it will have great success on Shapeways without a doubt. What is the mechanism based on? Any hints? My guess is a bandaged 9x9x9, but that seems too complex..... Great job!

I don't see any reason why applying a 'two dimensional' prism of V-Mech wouldn't work for this.
