The first Axisminx was a casted puzzle made by Josh B. This one is hand made with plastic sheets, so I guess it is the first hand-made Axisminx.
Since I have to finish this puzzle before spring break ends, I kinda rushed a little. So the end result isn't completely satisfying, but I'm still pretty proud to own an Axisminx now.
Here are the pictures, enjoy.

Wow I think it looks even nicer than the original. Nice job.

how was it made? megaminx -> hexaminx -> hex dipyramid -> axishexaminx ->axisminx? or have I overcomplecated things. I thought that hexaminx ->hex dipyramid would cut off several pieces altogether.

[EDIT] I had a thought, instead could it be done by holding a megaminx vertically from one corner to opposite, and rotating around that axis by 60 degrees?

Very nicely done, I love the unique symmetry of it!

Thanks, everybody! But I can't really take the compliment of it being better than the original which is damn near perfect!
@DudeHuLubeDaRubeCube
Yeah, that's way too complicated :wink:

My favorite megaminx mod by far.
I'd love to see an axis gigaminx.

I bought the cutting mat from Towerhobbies (I also get my plastic sheets from there). It doesn't really help much with modding except that it prevents me from ruining the table.
