Intriguing. I wonder how it was made, with molded plastic within a casing? Or are the pieces removable, like a GuHong colored cube with caps?

Okay, so whats the point of the colored plastic? Am I missing something here? The piece is black, but the stalk is colored? I'm confused. :P Why bother if no one sees the stalk?

I think the Black plastic is just a shell and the colored parts go into it like on the C4Y tile cube, except they go all the way through instead of just being on the surface.

Here's a video that shows several solves and a partial disassembly of the puzzle (yes, the colored parts interlock with the black plastic "shell" pieces). Skip to 04:47 to see the partial disassembly.

http://v.youku.com/v_show/id_XMjQ3ODAxMTI0.html (there might be a commercial before the puzzle video)

Enjoy,

Skarabajo

I was in the same boat upon seeing the pics here. But now that I've seen the video I think I really like this idea. If you like the look of stickers over the colored plastic cubes but like the idea of not having to worry about stickers peeling or wearing out... this gives you the best of both worlds. I may have to get one. Where are they available?

I think it's very interesting. Anybody knows who made this?
and does anybody know if you could use it at a competition?

This also solves the problem that made the 6-Colored GuHong not allowed in competitions. You could see the colors on the opposite sides of pieces without actually turning the cube, since part way through the turn, you see the other half of the edge pieces in the middle slice. This would give an unfair advantage to someone who trained themselves to use it. But with the black covers, the problem is solved.

Well, now that I understand things a little bit better (:P), I think this is a very cool cube. Yes, it is similar to the C4U Tile cube, and I like that.

By the way, Drake, I'd assume that's the cuber's name. He appears to be Chinese, since many comments are in Chinese and he said the cube was from China, so I'd have to make an educated guess that Gan is just a Chinese given name, and someone involved named it after themselves.

I'd be extremely grateful if anyone who may buy this cube did a video review of this cube. I need a cube for competition since my colored guhong is illegal and I'd kind of prefer not to have two guhongs.

Get a Lingyun or a Zhanchi when they come out.

But has anyone here tried it?

If it's any good I'll try to get it for my shop.

From watching the video it appers to cause a great deal of stalling to the solvers. I'd bet it's pretty good, but it's not as good as elite cubes (not Guhong Elites, but elite in general). The kind of... stalling formations?... that form on that cube are not unlike center misalignment in even-layered cubes.

(Speaking of which, we need a name specifically for the league of speedcubes which stand out as the best. Alpha V, Guhong... then the X-Cube 4 (KO?) and the V-Cube 5 as well. Ultimate, Elite, Magic, Speed... all the names are taken. League of Impressive Speedcubes? LIS? Just don't let me hijack this thread)
