Hi Twisty Puzzles fans, Artistic Cube is a hollow Master Skewb. Half of the pieces are solid, whereas the other half can be looked through. The results is a playful puzzle with some windows to its hollow core. Related puzzles are Master Skewb, Void Cube, Void Master Skewb, Hollow Cube and Minimal Twist. The connections between the different pieces are rather thin, because of the very limited space in the hollow pieces. As a result, the puzzle pops and derails easily, unfortunately. Watch the YouTube video. Buy the puzzle at my Shapeways Shop. Read more at the Shapeways Forum. Check out the photos below. Enjoy! Oskar Attachment:

Wow. I would probably have preferred it to be more symetrical, but this still looks pretty cool.

Very nice, but I agree with SEBUVER; it would be nicer if it were symmetrical. Alex

Nice! It is indeed very artistic.

Very cool! Is it possible for you to do this to all of the pieces?

The whole point of this puzzle is that there is no symmetry in the holes (or how you want to call it), its an artistic cube =)
Great work, as always.

Love the concept! I'm kind of wishing that the corners had a 'frame' over them to retain its shape (imagine a Master skewb corner, but with three triangular holes) Does it have an equal number of void and un-void parts? I really want to see a hollow master skewb... that said, great job on another puzzle.

I know what the next Meffert's puzzle is!
Good Job, Oskar!

Monopoly wrote: Does it have an equal number of void and un-void parts? I really want to see a hollow master skewb. Yes, you have guessed it correctly. If you buy two sets, then you can build yourself any artistic combination of solid and hollow parts, including the Hollow Master Skewb. SEBUVER wrote: I would probably have preferred it to be more symmetrical. Question: can you build a symmetrically-looking Artistic Cube with a single set of pieces? Oskar

Well I guess it's just down to preferance. Following this though, could you design a fully Hollow Master Skewb?

Depends on how one defines "symmetrically-looking". With every piece set halved the most symmetric variant would be the attached one. It has 6 (out of 48 possible) symmetries.

I think it's perfect. It doesn't at all need to be symmetrical. This is pure art. All of it, every detail. You Oskar, just turn out to be even more than a construction genius only.

Oskar, your puzzles often explore the beauty of mathematics, but I also like seeing your personal artistic expression and hope you will continue to combine the two in the future.
Is it possible to sticker the visible "inside" parts of the hollow pieces in addition to their narrow faces?

not to be rude, but I think we should all reflect on the meaning of the word art, and what is the art, before writing or wants to point to a personal meaning, Maybe if someone explains what inspired which rules have this "new art movement", we could also create minor masters and groped to spread, perhaps one day one of these masters will be remembered in books of contemporary art; ... and in a few centuries to be remembered as the Michelangelo Buonarroti, Henri Matisse or Pablo Picasso of the Cube.
plus the cube I find it nice, the art of Picasso, ""I"" find very bad!
