Hi Twisty Puzzles fans, Gear Skewb is based on the well-known tetrahedral/octahedral Skewb geometry, or actually on the Master Skewb. Twenty-four gears guide the rotation of this puzzle. Watch the YouTube videoBuy the puzzle from my Shapeways ShopRead more at the Shapeways ForumCheck out the photos below. Enjoy! Oskar P.S. I also built a Gear Octahedron, which is essentially the same puzzle. Unfortunately, it turned out a bit delicate, with pieces occasionally falling out. More info: see YouTube and my Shapeways Shop. Beautiful puzzle Oskar. I love it. You now need to make a Gear Master Pentultimate. (I'm not joking either )

These are my new favourite gear puzzles, they look really complicated! I'm not sure I'd like getting my fingers caught in the gears though. Alex

Very nice, but isn't this more akin to a geared master skewb than a geared skewb?

Interesting... these puzzles have the exact same mech... correct? So why does one work better then the other? Was one just a better print then the other? If its a mater of the octahedron cutting in too close to the mech, you should be able to keep the mech the same size and just use a slightly larger outer octahedron. I see no reason why these two puzzles shouldn't turn as well as each other. Carl

Gear-gaminx is the next word I think of. Of course, these two are pretty impressive and I know they would end up in more pieces than there are as is if I had to solve one of them.

I saw the video and the reactions of the "normal people" was amazement. Glad to say I feel the same. Wonderful work as always, but is this the first higher order skewb octahedron?
