That looks really cool, why must so many good puzzles come out at once?

Almost certainly their ball mechanism. They use it on their normal 4x4x4, and on their puzzles like the 4x4x4 Trajber's Octahedron.

Lovely! I was waiting to see this, ever since the truncated version hit the webstores. I love how this makes it a super-cube, while at the same time getting rid of the annoyingly long edge-flip alg (:
looks like it would be a joy to solve! Since this will probably be pin stock, I will definitely order whenever I get the money!

EDIT disregard, beaten XD

I think it should be named Rhombic Dodecahedron to avoid confusion with the Regular Dodecahedron. Dodecahedron used on it's own usually refers the regular one and that's what I expected when I saw the thread.

Exactly what I was thinking, Tony. It's still cool to see these shape mods being made.

The more shape mods produced, the worse off those are who actually make the mods by hand. These numerous productions are a big part of why I haven't convinced myself to start modding.

I think it is great to see companies coming out with new "open" designs like this. Even if it isn't the most original it is far better than direct copying of other's designs.

For those who would otherwise build them, well, there is always the pride in your work :)

I have the 8 sided one and I haven't even scrambled it and now I have to get this one. So they are both solved the same way as 4x4s right? But centers need to be oriented or other special cases?

look at the corners sharon. Its not the same thing. Plus the color scheme is bases around the corners instead of the faces.

It looks like the same puzzle, but truncated with a different colour scheme. Does anyone know anything more about the puzzle Sharon posted? :D

Sharon, were you responding to my question to the 4x4 Octahedron? Well that isn't it, but it is in that page at the bottom tho.

I think that if anyone will buy the cube I just posted and the super Mask cube , he will be able to use the corners to make the 4x4 rhombic dodecahedron.

Correct me if im wrong.

Hmm, this whole topic is dedicated to the (notyetreleased) 4x4x4 Rhombic dodecahedron...
That cubecorner-truncated variant looks very intriguing, I guess it's natural that they'd try to market different types of shape mods after making the molds...

What is this? Sorry if this puzzle has a thread but I could not find it. It may be the new lanlan that was discussed a few days ago at a different angle but I doubt it.

It has been mentioned on the forum. It's basically a corner truncated Rhombic Dodecahedron.

It's a new version of the 4x4x4 Trajber octahedron.
You can find it here:
http://www.hknowstore.com/templates/nowstore/default.aspx?corpname=nowstore

Corners are bigger so edges can be plane.
It's exactly the same way to solve both 4x4x4 Trajber octahedron.

If there isn't time to do reasonable reading/searching to see if something has already been said about a topic, perhaps an alternative is simply not to post.

Don't get me wrong, this was no big deal and I don't mean to give either mizzle576 or WilliamF trouble about it. I just wanted to share the general concepts of "Slow down. Read more. Post less" as a counterpoint.

When we all post less, forum traffic isn't as high and it is easier for people to keep up with the forum, and fewer posts to search. This doesn't mean don't post, just pause and consider a bit before hitting the Submit button. I compose and then delete many posts, because on review they just aren't worth sharing. I am sure if I looked I could go back and find many of my posts that I really could have skipped. Getting in this habit will mean your average post contribution and quality goes up, which is good for the forum.

The more you read, the less you will need to search as you will probably have seen what you would otherwise need to search. We can't all keep the entire forum in our heads so search is a good idea as well (and it is sometimes hard to find what you are looking for). The more you have read, the better you can add value when you reply.

Slowing down is a good thing. Don't be in a rush to post. The forum will be here tomorrow. Most anything you want to add can wait, and most of the time I find myself rushing to finish a long post I wind up editing it multiple times over the next few days because I just didn't get it right and it needs revision.
I don't have much time these days and feel rushed on the forum all the time. To moderate the forums I have to go through pretty much each post and it means sometimes I have to just scan, particularly the longer posts. These are the ones I really want to take time to read thoroughly! It makes me very sad :(

Dave

I promise there was no rush on my end. I saw this thread the day it was posted and thats why I reference it in my first post. The puzzles look different (maybe its the angle). They may have they same mechanism. BUT they look different. The corners are flat which make the cube look like a face turning cube.

Sorry but I cannot post a picture because it is a live auction and therefore I cannot defend my judgement.

Honest mistake. NOT a rush.

No worries, and hopefully people won't take my general comments as pertaining too much to this situation or you in particular. It just seemed like the proper time to respond when the general point of "mistakes are made when time is short" was brought up.

And with that clarification I'll apologize for getting off topic and return us to our previously scheduled program.

Dave :)

Once again, it's not a 4x4x4 dodecahedron.
Here we've got two new puzzles.
first one is the 4x4x4 dodecahedron and second one is the 4x4x4 Octahedron II ( even if it's not an octahedron, 8 faces aren't plane )

both of them are 4x4x4 mods.

I love the 4x4x4 dodecahedron ( I still haven't got rhombic dodecahedron) but I prefer fisrt version of the4x4x4 Octahedron

The Octahedron II should be called the Rhombic Dodecahedron II, as it is only a corner truncated Rhombic Dodecahedron.

Only regarding shape, why not but It's nearer the Octahedron regarding the solving method.
That the same thing with the V-cube 7x7x7 which is not a cube because faces aren't plane.
