Hi! I've finally finished the puzzle that was started half a year ago The old topic about it: http://twistypuzzles.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=15&t=17663The white Smooth Cast 300 pieces have been dyed with black RIT Powder dye and the result is very nice. YouTube VIDEOAttachment:

WOW!! Congratulations on finishing this Timur!!
also, would this be the first time someone dyed smoothcast pieces? It looks really good!
But why not use Onyx if you want black?

I am most impressed at you! Job well done! How stable are the corners during mid rotation? Can we expect to see this on Shapeways sometime? I assume that like the FTO and Pyraminx Diamond (or Junior FTO), only colors from nonadjacent faces can reside together on a single face? I prefer the four color sticker schemes for that exact reason, LOL! PS -> Kudos on getting the Vulcano/Tigris produced

Wow, amazing! Looks like it functions really well. Definitely looks better when it's all cleaned up and dyed. Nice work!

I simply love this puzzle! I need to ask, is this practical for mass-production? I'd love to own one but cannot afford a custom one. Great job on this puzzle! Great to see it finished (: by the way, is this a completely different puzzle from the white one, or are they the same puzzle, just this one is dyed??
great job again, sj

Great job! It turns amazingly well and looks great! Is there a reason why this was casted?-Price, quality, etc...?
Ps. Congratulations on getting the Trignis/Vulcano being produced.

Thank everyone for nice feedback! Sigurd wrote: But why not use Onyx if you want black? Unfortunately Onyx was not available at the local distrubutor. stardust4ever wrote: How stable are the corners during mid rotation? Actually the corners are the most stable outer pieces, because they are screwed to the inner core. stardust4ever wrote: Can we expect to see this on Shapeways sometime? Currently I don't have plans to put this on Shapeways as I think that it will not sell well due to high price. pirsquared wrote: How did you dye the SmoothCast parts? Did you use the same method as for WSF printed parts? Yes, it was exactly the same method - boiling in dye for 20-30 min. I guess the material got a bit softer for the time of boiling, because at 2 pieces (that apparently had air cavities close to the surface) I observed collapsed craters that I had to fill with Apoxie Sculpt. I'm not sure, but boiling might be a good means against sticker bubbling later on. Monopoly wrote: is this practical for mass-production? It might be practical from the mechanical point of view, but I don't expect it would sell like hot cakes due to high solving difficulty. The second is a very important requirement for the puzzle to be mass-produced. Monopoly wrote: by the way, is this a completely different puzzle from the white one, or are they the same puzzle, just this one is dyed?? Most of the pieces are the same and some have been recast. MonkeyZ wrote: Is there a reason why this was casted?-Price, quality, etc...? Ps. Congratulations on getting the Trignis/Vulcano being produced. Thank you. There are relatively many similar parts so it cost me much less being cast (but of course it took more work). As for the quality - 3D printed pieces would have been much more precise and accurate. konsassen wrote: Any chance to get that mass-produced or at least at Shapeways? I don't mass produce This is always a decision of a person who decides to invest in it. The price at Shapeways would be relatively high even without mark-up, I doubt that more than 1 or 2 will be sold there.
