Hey guys,

As you might have heard earlier, doubleyou posted his idea of a cube with corners connected to a cage with ropes on the forum (I believe he treied it with a 2x2). But right before he posted it (minutes at most) I had posted a 2x2 version too on shapeways!! To be brief, we both have rights for this puzzle, and so I decided to make a 3x3, I'll leave the 4x4 to him

The 3x3 has all the corners conneced to the cage's corners with strings. As you can see from the pictures, the ropes are damaged, but lets say I was so mad at not being able to solve the puzzle that i wasn't really careful with them  . Anyways, the strings are quite short: why? Simple:

With short strings, tangling up the puzzle is easy enough, and still, some moves are blocked if you tangle too much, so it gets very hard !! You might think it would've been better if I had longer strings on the corners, because then, there would be moore knots, etc.

So basically, here I'm showing a puzzle with short roped on the video, but it doesn't have to be that way.
I plan on selling this puzzle and so I found a solution:

In the Package, I will include a disassembled puzzle and a disassembled cage (it's very easy to assemble the cage  ) and with it, I included three paper envelopes (see picture) in which there are:

1) Long ropes
2) Short ropes)
3) 2 meters of extra rope in case you break a string or if it is damaged

The turning quality is very good, but you can easily get on your nerves, because it is really hard to solve (I personally couldn't, although I tought myself methods for the square-1 and teraminx without the internet). The 3x3 in the middle is a DianSheng speedcube. 3 Stickers have been damaged in the making of this puzzle, but I had no more 3x3 stickers so I couldn't repair them :(

*** No I'm not selling it because I don't like it resisting to me   ***

Well, enough said!

Enjoy the picture and of course, the Video!!

- Greg :D

P.S: Woah, that was my longest post by far! ^^

Very cool! That looks awesome. I would personally go with long strings so the puzzle can become scrambled a hell of a lot more.

Have you considered using elastic strings like what the Brainstring uses?

there are some pull experienced with elastic string. A pull is not desireable with this puzzle!

RubixFreakGreg, have you really printed that cage? it could so easily be made from say K'Nex I think.

Well the problem with elastic strings is:

1) I don't know where to get them, but that's not the major problem
2) There would be a lot of resistance anyways, causing the puzzle to pop, and it would still block the turns :)

In the video I say that it's made with part of a very old marble track game called space oddyssey :)

here's a link to the type of game i'm talking about:

http://www.amazon.com/Toto-Toys-Space-O ... B002OT53TI

It's a bit like K'Nex

The one on shapeways is a 2x2 version with a 15 cm cage

Hey!!! What are you doing there torturing that poor little helpless puzzle?

*reports everyone involved to the puzzle police*

How would *you* feel if you had your hands and legs pulled like that?

What about attaching strings to every part of this puzzle including the edges? attaching strings to just the corner makes it no harder than another 2x2 if you use an M2 blindfold method. You just solve the corners first like a 2x2 using any old method (like using the strings to guide you) then use M2 to solve the edges with no disturbance to the strings.

Uhh, that would be easir, because if you disentangle the knots, then the puzzle would be solved, while here, the knots can be solved with a scrambled puzzle!
