I feel silly for asking but did you mod the core? or did you just put the pieces in together and they conveniently fit?

Well asides for having to sand the inner layers down 1/6 of a cubie it fit almost perfectly

it must have been cool to work that out in your head! very cool idea indeed! and if it doesnt take that much effort to do.. I would still prefer the uniform cuboid.
