I love the open style of this puzzle. There is truly nothing hidden about its mechanism. And it has been hollowed out to the max.
Here is a suggestion how to color the "faces" of this puzzle. -Take a flat clean surface -Paint that surface with some thick paint -Press one side of the puzzle into the wet paint -Quickly remove the puzzle -Let it dry -Repeat another five times

This is just amazing! But yeah, I would imagine it would be pretty fragile and unstable? Either way, if it's fully functional that's an awesome accomplishment Kudos!
