Hi Twisty Puzzles fans,
Floppy 3x3x3 is a twisty puzzle that just looks like a
Rubik's Cube. At least from one side. Actually, it is a quite different puzzle. All its faces turn eccentrically and the puzzle as a whole is quite eccentric.
The basic mechanism is a 4x4x4 confined to a 40x40x40 mm space, and extended at three faces to the (about) Rubik's size 60x60x60 mm. Because of the small mechanism size, the puzzle is rather unstable. The small center pieces pop out easily and the turning can be a bit awkward. Still, the mechanism does work, so I guess this counts as a successful proof of concept.
