This rare puzzle arrived today, means I picked it up from customs. But since it is new I want to give it a new thread. This one was made from Tanner frisby after my idea: Attachment:

This explains where the stickering scheme came from: Attachment:

I will post the reason for this mod tomorrow. BTW: Thank you, Tanner!

so this is an edges only idea applies to a megaminx? it looks really nice, and the stickering is unique.

so the centerpieces must be lower than the other ones so the pieces can slide over, correct?

Looks very nice. I thought about doing this with my pyraminx crystal, but sadly I do not possess the skill Or at least according to monolopy...

I would assume this is built from a Flowerminx with the corner tips cut and the center built up?

Glad to see that it made it! However, your sticker pattern was trying. I hope you enjoy it. I made a solving video the first time that I tried to solve it. I stopped the video at 10 min and rescrambled to start over. Good luck! Also, no Dave, this wasn't built from a flowerminx. It was made from an mf8 minx. I didn't shave down the centers, I just didn't add the 1mm plate to the centers. I used 1mm polystyrene to build up the corners. The reason I didn't use a flowerminx is that I didn't have one available and when I started (it was on my list at the end of the summer with some others) the flowerminx wasn't available (I think). I had already started and it would be $40 cheaper for me not to use a starminx. However, the thought crossed my mind many times. Thanks, Tanner Frisby.

Andreas, I think the Mobius Line is what you're looking for to fill the gap.

Mobius line IS a babyface dodecahedron. You'd just have to sand the lines off it.

Just to clarify Andreas, are you looking for a Megaminx core with pentagonal faces . If are looking for a baby face like the one I made here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7XArtlmPq-Mbut with pentagonal faces attached to a megaminx core, I might be able to help you with this.

Andreas, I am sorry for off-topic, but could you be so kind as to tell where did you get this one: Is this one custom, or it can be bought somewhere online?

Back from my holidays. Time to answer: That is Tutts Icosaminx: viewtopic.php?f=15&t=7369and mine was made by a fellow member (not Lee Tutt but with his permission) and I got it by exchanging. And thanks go to Jin. Without his "Top 10"-thread it would have been very difficult to find the given link.

It was a joke. You asked not to be quoted on that.

nice puzzle but i don't care for the puzzles that when they are solved they still kinda sorta look scrambled a little. i especially hate the 2.211 alex's star (6 color) on magic polyhedra apple t v 1 it is always scrambled! but still it is a nice thing

I like puzzles to look 'solved'. Alex

Sorry, I was very busy during the last days. What a cool idea! I am always a fan of piece diving puzzles and I hope Andreas finds a proper identification code for the mechanism. Very nice work and I hope to see it on Saturday (German Cube Day).

Identifying this is almost trivial: FD2 [C5,F1][C5,F1] And it didn't matter to me whether it is diving or not. I thought about a way to have a megaminx without edges but with faces. After I rediscovered my super simple overlapping cube everything was clear. And luckily, Tanner could built it. Does anybody else want me to take something with me for saturday?
