I'm calling it the Tower 2.
As I should have said earlier it is just a regular Tower cube from Gentosha. Only the corners are split in two and caped with, believe it or not, old CD's split in two to get thin plastic.
This is a bit more dificult to solve than I had expected. It can pop sometimes if not aligned properly due to the small bit that holds the corners in place.

Does the middle-layer have 8 segments, or just 4 segments? Nice puzzle, too, if it's handmade, I have no words O_o if it's not handmade, I still bow down to you, especially if the center is 8-segmented xD

If the mechanism is fully contained inside the middle layer and the corner pieces just rotate around it, then it should be theoretically possible to divide the top and bottom into any number of regions!!!

That is a pretty awesome mod. Is the mechanism of the slim tower a 2x2x1 with a square-1 mechanism on the 2x2 part? If it is, I may build it myself, when I get round to building something.
