I made this from a QJ Domino using 'cut and paste'. The same pattern appears on all 4 sides. I used 1.6mm styrene sheet to cap the pieces and Milliput to fill the furrows on the inner surfaces. I replaced the spring with a softer one and also added a washer to the mech. I hand-cut all the stickers. I'll get a video uploaded this weekend. Attachment:

Interesting. I assume it's similar to solving a pyraminx? Even though it's a different mechanism the algorithims should still work, right?

I only realized this was based off a 3x3x2 when I saw the comparison to the Xenomorphix. (Even more sad is when I realized the title) Great puzzle- looks great!
But doesn't "geno" mean "sex"? I'm not sure that's a very matching name, though it's close to the "Xenomorphix" by sound.

The puzzle that you linked to doesn't look like it would be solving an normal pyraminx at all. If you look at the Genominx, it looks like a pyraminx, just with a few of the pieces either fused or oriented differently.

Justin, your work is flawless yet again. How can you get the plastic so perfect?! monker59 wrote: Steryne wrote: monker59 wrote: Interesting. I assume it's similar to solving a pyraminx? The only thing it has in common with a pyraminx is its shape, that's it.

Awsome puzzle! I wonder how much harder it is to solve than a normal domino.

Thanks for the comments Rentlix wrote: But doesn't "geno" mean "sex"? I'm not sure that's a very matching name, though it's close to the "Xenomorphix" by sound. I think the 'sex' prefix would be 'gono' rather than 'geno'. kastellorizo wrote: Nice! This puzzle is a *perfect* example, that anti-symmetric structures have some serious symmetries! Pantazis I'm disappointed you didn't notice the CVSI state This puzzle has *lots* of them compared to other shape mods I've made. I wouldn't have a clue how to work out the exact figure

Mmmmmhh!
What a beautiful puzzle. I just said it on another thread: I am surprised about the results of combining shape and concepts to generate new puzzles. And tetrahedrons are absolutely my favorite shapes. Although I have to admit, they consume a really unacceptable amount of space in my displays (compared base to tip..) I have to find a solution to show them upside down. There are Void Cubes, Megaminxes.. when will there be a puzzle with a triangular hole (a Void Megaminx is not the the perfect solution)?

Haha so true Frank! You should look into Tom's Holey Octahedron (or was it hollow?) which has triangular holes. And if you have 20 equally sized tetrahedra, you can put together a icosahedron, whick has a much smaller base in comparison to the rest of the shape. In comparison that is .

Right you are! The Hollow Octahedron is my solution. Good idea. I'll better order a couple of them quickly THAT would be nice, really! And I'll count my tetrahedras - don't know, if I'm up to 20 already
