Tony Fisher's Really Really Big Rubik's Cube

For sometime now I have been working on my new "Really Really Big Rubik's Cube". I finally finished it a few days ago and can now show off some photos and a video. They show me with the puzzle. They are not photoshopped or digitally altered.

Added 3rd March-

The Cube is about 27x27x27 cm. It's made from one of those 9cm Jumbo Cubes using high impact polystyrene sheet. I wanted to see what the limit is for using this technique. I believe this is pretty much it since any bigger would put too much strain on the mechanism. Movement is strictly average and it locks up a bit.
The bottom two pictures below shows the puzzle with the one I took to DCD 2009 which Erno signed and Erik solved on video.
I will probably sell the bigger one and then make another but it took weeks to make so won't be cheap.

I was like OMG!!!!!THATS HUGE!!!! at the beggining of the video but then you picked it up and it wasn't 8 feet tall

This is great.

The effect isn't too hard to work out at the beginning, but it's cool nonetheless.

Through the video I kept on thinking to myself "something's not quite right...." and then all was revealed.

after creating this illusion at first.
I was like
OMG it is sooooo biiiiiig.
And than you walk up to the cam and it's like: ....Ohhhh. That's... LLAAAME

Of course not! :lol:

really great video. and the puzzle is obviously really cool. (and big)

But now. I mean. Since I have seen it now. Seriously you could make one that is lets say... taller than you! :lol:

Two things impressed me:

1. the way you managed to keep in focus both the cube and its background.
2. Your athleticism! (it was very risky to jump from such a height).

100% entertaining and (in my opinion) it was better than the one with the falling V-Cube LOL

Wouldn't mind doing one myself one day. Need to persuade certain people though.

From memory it looks bigger than the one at IPP 25 in Finland.

I have now uploaded a proper video of the Cube- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tmCroNc3j30 as I never really showed it working before. Since the first video I had to modify the parts to improve movement. I am now very happy with it. I may sell it sometime in the future though the price tag would be around 500 GBP due to the many many hours it took to construct.
