Hi Twisty Puzzle fans, You may already have seen my H-Cube, which is a twisty puzzle with a fractal structure. With Grid Cube, I have gone one order up. Grid Cube is a fractal twisty puzzle constructed from connected 1x2x3's and 1x2x5's. It has a lot of dovetail connections to keep all parts together. Watch the YouTube video. Buy the puzzle at my Shapeways Shop. Read more at the Shapeways Forum. Check out the photos below. Enjoy! Oskar Attachment:

Very impressive. But I'm confused... one of the shots on Shapeways shows that the large, 5x5 rotation can go in 90° increments. Why doesn't that confuse the 2x3s and the 2x5s? Is it effectively bandaged in some fashion? I.e., after such a rotation, how would a corner piece know which way it was supposed to turn?
Or am I misunderstanding... from the initial configuration, the red face can turn as a 2x5 unit, but the green face can't, right?

okay, most puzzles made remain inside the box or close to the boundaries.
Every single one of your puzzles are about 10km away from that box..... you're imagination is just TOO crazy! how do you think these up!?!?

Way to think outside the box!
And outside the cube, tetrahedron, dodecahedron....

You are right, a 90° turn introduces blocking of side rotations. But it will still allow you to swap any of the 16 cubies that are next to a corner. And there is more sort-of bandaging. You have to turn the two 1x2x5 sides by 90° as a whole before you can turn the 1x2x3 sides as a whole. Oskar

I love these Fractal puzzles; they're completely different from the usual cuboid/platonic/archimedean solids we're all so use to seeing everyday. Great Job

could the fractal idea be expanded to parts that were say 2x2x3s or 2x2x5s and has 2x2x1 "fractal turns"
what I mean by this is the same way this puzzle has parts that are 1x2x3s, 1x2x5s and has 1x2x1 "fractal turns"
