Without a doubt the greatest of the three face-turning icosahedra! How's the turning? Puzzle of the Year 2010 nominee for sure!

Congratulations! Looks beautiful. How does it turn?
So, you beat me to 2.1.1. Shapeways sent mine to Menlo Park, NJ, instead of Menlo Park, CA. Thanks a lot, Shapeways.

Is this the same as the cornered radiolarian or should I add this puzzle to the list as another Radiolarian?

With the "circo" prefix I thought you had created a Circle-Radiolarian and I would have been absolutely awe-struck (not to say that I'm not for htis though. wow.)

Jason, does this puzzle have the problem of the corners being easy to turn on their own? If not, then would you mind sharing how to solve that issue?
Thanks. Keep those puzzles coming!

I have been waiting for this ever since the FTO came out, and there was just one platonic solid which poor faces didn't turn... But now it's here!
You had one more design, right? this one with center, if I recall correctly? Is there a new one in the works which has het same face-cut-pattern as the FTO(so this one exactly without the tiny little edge-wings)?

Yes, suggested by both Adam Cowan and Oskar van Deventer , I'll be doing a version with FTO look-alike faces soon, I think. And then I'd like to continue my tour of face turning icosahedra further!

I tried to design that one... it looked to me like the geometry didn't work out, that the face surfaces would interpenetrate. But I guess I was mistaken?

This is awesome great work! The Face-Turning Icosahedron was for a long time the last remaining hurdle of the Face-Turning Platonic Solid puzzles. I'd bet that orienting/permuting the corners and edges will be an extreme challenge. Due to the sheer number of colored sides, a ten color pattern (opposites are the same) would most likely be better on the eyes, even if it introduces a parity into the mix.

Actually, from the pictures, it looks like Jason used a ten color pattern where pairs of corner adjacent sides are the same color. Perhaps he did this to avoid parity, apart from identical face pieces being swapped?

I ordered 20 colors from Cubesmith for mine, if they're not distinct enough, I'll just use 10.
