you just take a 3x3x4 and remove the outer layer cubies,
and you have it

so is it that the top and bottom layers had the ends chopped off and the "circle" part is essentially the hidden pieces of the 3x3x4 exposed? Im confuzzled :mrgreen:

Thats one explanation, but how would one "block" the circle layers from moving?

Made about a week ago from a 3x3x4. On one layer the circle turns with the outer layer, the other layer doesn't. The turning is apparently really good. He still doesn't know how to solve it, apparently.

Those that remember his 4x4x4+2x2x2 cube from a long time ago, there's some information about it as well.

That's pretty easy, actually. If you look closely to see how the sectors of the inner circles migrate, you'll see that yourself. I am not gonna spoil it and tell you outright, sorry. 8-)

是用铭浩之334来改造的，把上下层锯了，用塑料薄板把圆圈改大，上下层的中块与轴块要用胶水粘接，组装时保留原334的捆绑零件，这样就完成作品。

旋转时只有一个圆圈内的块会跟圈外的块相对运动着转动，增强魔方的复原难度。

From now on, i will help Daqing Bao to translate so that he or TP members will not go through so much trouble. As I am bilingual i understand both English and Chinese.

This is what he wrote:

On this note, i would like to point out how i believe the puzzle moves. What has been done is the yellow and white center peices have been permanantly attatched, as well as the yellow "circle" of peices have been somewhat fixed, to where they dont rotate with the puzzle. meaning the only 331 slice that can really turn apart form the puzzle itself, is the outlying white layer. the other 123 slices can turn just like normal though. if the yellow circle were not attatched, it would have the same center somewhat as a 4 layer square-1, only on several axiis (probably mispelled that).

I try to to explain, sorry for my poor english :roll:

he say the Crazy 2x3x3 cube has two version,
in my mind it is easy and hard (to solve the cube)
the original is the corner lock the center, (hard to solve)
do something, use the edge to lock the center, (easy to solve)

lock corner, the release circle has 2 side can moving.
lock edge, the release circle has 3 side can moving.

you can see the photo, corner with the center lock parts.
the edge maybe he use glue stick together with the core.

I have successfully tested this approach,
I have made free to adjust the level. :lol:

If you don't glue there could be a core misalignement.
However you could use the connector already existing on a 3x3x4 between the hidden layer and the 2nd. Thus it will be like the "original one", the "hard to solve" one.

I'm not sure I see what you mean by 2 sides vs. 3 sides... but shouldn't there be a third version of this puzzle? Couldn't you lock a face center in place... say glue the white face center to the core?

I assume that means gluing a face center is equivalent to gluing an edge or a corner? If so... which? If I understood what you meant by 2 sides can move versus 3 sides can move it might be obvious. But I'm not seeing it at the moment.
