I started this puzzle a while ago and finally finished it today. I pretty much re-did the entire thing. I'm calling it Hex-1 because it rolls off the tongue a little better than Hexagonal Dipyramid from Square-1. I'll try to get a video up tonight. Enjoy! EDIT: VIDEO I did a quick search to see if 'Hex-1' has been used, but I didn't see anything. If it has, please let me know. Thanks.

Sweet!
I like how the cut sides look almost exactly the same as a 3x3 hexagonal dipyramid.

Looks nice! Doesn't look like it's much harder to solve than the square-1, but maybe that's because I'm getting used to sorting shapes into layers now. Very clean looking, though! When I order more square-1s, I'll have to make sure I get some sheet plastic. This is on the list. Further thinking lead me to believe that DAMN this would be fun to show off to my friend who can get my square-1 back into shape, and that's all.

theVDude wrote: Looks nice! Doesn't look like it's much harder to solve than the square-1 Probably because it's in the final shape. I imagine it would be quite difficult to get from a jumbled state to the hex dipyramid shape. Once it's in the HDP shape, then I could see it being a little easier.

Thanks for the compliments. theVDude wrote: Looks nice! Doesn't look like it's much harder to solve than the square-1 I wouldn't know. I haven't scrambled it yet. Very nice looking puzzle I like the use of all black stickers on the white plastic. The high contrast makes the cuts show up really well. The 2nd pic reminds me of the Spiderman 3 logo Attachment:

Anyway, I plan on making one of these when I get my square-1s in, instead of keeping one as a square-1. My first adventure into plastic sheet will be the 4x4x4 windmill, then I'll do this!

Looks great. Did you make the logo by cutting away from the black sticker letting white show through? Or is that a white sticker on black?

I like this one. I'm wondering if a Hex-2 would be too wobbly at the apexes?

You're right! I noticed it when I went back to the original thread. I was going to call it HexDip-1, but why make it any longer than it needs to be. Stay tuned for a new mod that'll be posted shortly.
