Yep! That's right-- This is the v1 free stl file version. All the edge and corner pieces stayed in, making a solid shell. But this post just made me consider what would have happened if a single corner had popped-- all tension would have gone. I bet the whole thing would have fallen apart. Another 7 hour assembly, this time worrying about colors! Now that would be (not) fun.

Another 7 hour assembly, this time worrying about colors! Now that would be (not) fun. Yea, that's why I asked. I was wondering how the hell that thing kept the tension with all those parts missing. That was the single biggest struggle we had with assembly- the constant fighting with tension and keeping parts aligned during that. Two things I picked up tho since then: 1) Drew's trick with the glued-together bridges from his video 2) no springs. It should go a little easier this time around, but I am currently filing down each piece and comparing anything marginally questionable to the master part with a digital caliper. Takes a lot of time, but I want this one to sing when it's finished (again).

I feel your pain. I took about 1 to 2 minutes per part to clean them up after casting. For anyone at home doing the math, that's 1000 to 2000 minutes. I think mine took around 2000 minutes to clean all the parts, with some taking longer than 2 minutes.
Another tip-- I used tape to help hold parts of the puzzle together while I worked on other sections. You can't count on it under a load, but it's better than balancing parts and counting on friction.

Kids can be so ruthless with fragile objects. although to survive without a center cap. not sure that counts as fragile

Hmmm.... Whats the shipping insurance on $10,000?
I would most likely get the biggest box I cold find & wrap each puzzle in like two feet (R) of bubblewrap & throw a GPS in there so I could track it minuet by minuet.

I say bring them to the boston meeting Drew is having, they could probably get a peta, giga and tera minx there, and the megaminx is no problem

-Jason LOL That's what I was thinking. hmm Who's gonna give up what? Well Jason (Peta, Mega) Aleh (Giga, Mega) and I (Kilo, Mega) can cover most of the range but that would still leave us without a Teraminx. I could send my Kilominx to Boston, but then there is still no Petaminx (unless you send yours or attend...). I think we'll just have to wait until someone on the west coast buys or builds a Teraminx, or until I can organize a get together awesome enough to convince Drewseph to buy a plane ticket. I'm working on that last one Dave

or someone could "trade" drew for the teraminx, like he sends you tera to borrow and you send 2,000 as collateral(sp?)

Or the kilominx and petaminx can arrive at the boston meetup. Maybe dave and Jason can let drew borrow them. Or, you can jsut cheat and use photoshop

I would've said Kilominx too, but then what about the 4x4, 6x6 and 8x8 minx? Anyway, we're getting pretty off-topic.

I'm working on that last one Dave If you can do that, I would definitely make the 7 hour drive to San Fransisco. I don't have anything remarkable, but it would be a moment in history to have all Drew's (blank)minx series to be in one place (Drew has Prominx, I have Gigaminx, Drew has Teraminx, Jason has Petaminx). So wouldn't that make me a crucial part of the equation? I deserve gas money!

i would just like to point out that, since jasons petaminx video was featured, a couple other youtube users took the video, one person just copied and pasted everything jason put in his description, and is basically lying about owning that puzzle. another user is using the fame of the video (currently +200,000 views and over 100 pages of comments.) to advertise what i would assume is a get rich quick scheme, i didnt take the time to read the particulars of the linked website. ill put the links here in the hopes that my fellow twisty puzzle members will flag the video for having misleading information, and the videos will be taken down copycat video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=055ASV5oOzEvideo with linked website: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7iouAr5KGG4i dont know if anyone else cares, but it kinda pisses me off, so if it infuriates you as well, give them a bad rating, and flag these vids.... unless you dont care, in that case, nevermind.

How do you flag them? I know there is a flag button, and there is a "This infringes my rights" type thing... but it doesn't infringe MY rights... so do I still use that button?
