l guess this puzzle will come as no surprise to anyone. Yes my spherical obsession continues. This time it was a bit more complicated to make. As usual it was done by hand though the process did need moulds and casting.
The only thing I hate about ball shaped puzzles is the stickers. They seem almost impossible to get right. For this I really wanted to use original Void Cube type stickers since I wanted it to look 'Void Cubish' instead of like all my other spheres. However those kind of stickers looked even worse than the ones I eventually used. Having said that this is only a prototype. This basically means I try not to spend to much time on the first effort. It's really just an experiment to see if my idea is going to work. Later ones are made more carefully.

Looks like it's only a little cut down and also quite a bit built up. Not unlike the original 3x3x3 ball, in that. Looks nicely aesthetic, this way.

Yet another wonderful puzzle that defies the mental barrier of puzzle making. You say it can't be done, chances are, Tony is already working on it.

However I thought of applying 3x3x3 ball pieces to cube puzzle. More like dressing one with the other.

As for your stickers... I've been trying to figure out why you aren't using anything remotely resembling a normal color scheme, but I can't figure it out. I played with one of your ball 4x4s last time I was in Europe and it was fun to solve except for the part where I had to spend a while trying to figure out what colors went where (because it didn't make sense to me). Basically... do you really have to use yellow across from pink? It kind of resembles my keychain Skewb, which I have the same problems with (that is, I have to check the color scheme before I mess up the puzzle, or else it will take me twice as long to solve).

He uses the same stickers that go on the skewb, skewb ultimate and pyraminx. These stickers are textured, almost tile-ish, and almost don´t peel at all. But on my skewb its yellow-orange, red-pink, green blue, not pink-yellow.

I do accept this gift, you'll just need to drop it off latter tommorow.

Very very nice, as usual. Very clean. I wish I knew where you got so much of that wonderful sticker material that Mefferts uses.

It wouldn't suprize me if its almost done already.

I find regular stickers just don't stick to this shape very well especially when there's squarish one's. Thinner Cubesmith type will deal with the curves better but bubble very quickly.
I feel I need to use yellow across from pink since I am trying to keep similar colours opposite. Green needs to be opposite blue and orange needs to be opposite that yucky dull orange. That just leaves pink opposite yellow. Unless your taking part in a speed competition I personally don't see why the colours matter. After all it's a puzzle that you're solving so anything that makes it harder is surely a good thing.



I have thought about a Fisher Void Cube (and Siamese) but you can't quite cut an entire edge in half so it would have to be slightly different. I haven't checked but making it a genuine cube might work.

If you took apart a Void Cube, cut some of the rings open, and were able to reglue them well, you could do a pair of linked Void Cubes.

For the really cheap you could probably just get an appropriately sized round rubik's cube and use the pieces to enrobe a cut down Void Cube. Kind of cheap, but should be effective.
