This one is based on Alokin's X-Cube 3x3 STL files. I have to say, this is a really cool puzzle. It's simple, but well designed. The shape makes finger tricks really fun. The way the edge pieces are indented, it's perfect for putting your thumb, and because the corners are extended, it's easy to flick with your fingers. The only issue is the center caps. They stick out slightly due to the center cubies having to be out far enough for the screws. It's minor, and doesn't really distract from the aesthetics or functionality. I designed the stickers, cut them out, and chose to use the Ultimate Cube layout, since I thought this puzzle deserved something more than just a basic 3x3 color design, and wanted to take advantage of the X-shape. Overall, nice design Alokin! edit 022709: Video added: Video Here .

This stickering pattern (certainly with the white lines going over the centre pieces), makes me longing for a 4x4x4 version with unequal cubie sizes! I want more =)

Wow, I don't say this often but this is a brilliant mod - something about it just totally appeals to me. Very very nice job!

Ryton wrote: This stickering pattern (certainly with the white lines going over the centre pieces), makes me longing for a 4x4x4 version with unequal cubie sizes! Yea, that's why I did the stickers that way. Technically, I could have made the center cap stickers and the edge stickers of each side one piece rather than two, but it looks cooler this way with the split, I think. This would make an awesome 4x4 mod. Thanks for the compliments everyone. I can't believe Alokin only charges $10 for the STL files for this. For anyone wanting to get a start at casting, this is probably a good one to try. They're all easy pieces to cast. The stickers are a pain in the butt, but if you have a cutter, I would be happy to give you my template. If you don't have a cutter, I'd still be happy to provide a template in PDF format so you can cut them manually.

Yea, believe it or not, that is what the checkerboard pattern looks like. It's hardly scrambled.

It looks more like [M2 S2] than a Checkerboard pattern. Regardless, very nice. I like the stickering. I'd love to see a video.

I gotta see if I can find my webcam. I don't ever use it, and the last time I did, it wasn't working. If I can get it working, I'll do a video of all the custom puzzles I've been making, including this one.
I actually have this one apart right now. I'm trying to see what I can do about those centers. I'm trying to clip the springs in half to shorten them so I can get the center screws down a little further, and sanding the center cubies. That's the only thing I can do because the center caps are almost paper thin after sanding them.

I have been waiting to see this puzzle be built for quite some time now. It turned out great, and the color scheme looks great. Any chance we can see some scrambled pictures of this puzzle?
