Dino Rhombic Dodecahedron by Adam

A few weeks ago Adam presented this design to me. I had the parts printed and here si the completed build.

I plan to start a waiting list soon after I figure out proper estimates for cost. Lets all thank Adam for such a wonderful design!

Wow, the movement of this puzzle is so cool! The slices seem really "shallow" to me, just because of its similarity to the dino-cube! Very very awesome job

The first time I saw this puzzle, I had no idea how it could turn any other way than Garret's Rhombiminx, but now I understand. Drewseph, you never cease to amaze me!

Excellent! I would love one of these. It kinda reminds me of the Alexander's Star puzzle. Very nicely designed and created, guys!

This is awesome. It looks exactly like a Rhombiminx until you turn it, then it becomes completely different! Great build quality as well, such nice angles and stickers really put the final touches on a build.

Too bad its probably not a big challenge to solve

Mechanically it's identical to a regular dino cube, the mechanism is not the interesting part of this puzzle for me. it's the visually pleasing look of this puzzle, sometimes simpler is better

elijah516, he is quite soft, in fact he jumps up to snuggle me and lick my face the moment I lay down for bed. He is indeed quite Loving like a puppy

I'm almost afraid to look at the cost, since I'm guessing it'll be comparable to that of your other puzzles on BedardPuzzles, but it looks so cool!

Was this made as a skewb mod, (with the extensions printed), or from scratch?

No, it just turns quarter turns along the tips.

I don't agree, I think 2008 truly is the year of puzzles... So Far... I think that 2009 and 2010 have more in store for us however. Quite a few people I think would agree with me.

Not trying to be insulting, but you may be to young to remember this. A few names, "Rhino", "K-tel", "Ronco" bring to mind cheap garbage. They were all companies that were very popular in the states in the 70's and early 80's. Sold cheap stuff at christmas mostly out of magazines and on television.

I don't think Rhino is a good name for such a great puzzle.

Although you make a good point. Of course, Adam has the right to name his puzzle however he wants.

Also, I was doing some thinking on this puzzle last night and it occurred to me that it would be identical to an octahedral Platypus in terms of solving. I wonder if Meffert's will ever make one? Probably not.

WOW!!! The pictures didn't load for me and after seeing the begining of the video I was thinking this was a face centers 4x4x4. I see that is called the Garret's Rhombiminx.

I wonder how long it will be before we see someone combine these two. I think that should be doable though I'm sure its much easier said then done.

i absolutely love this puzzle! the second i turned it at westchester amazed me, i cant wait till that waiting list starts, so put me on it

PS-it is a very nice size, a lot smaller than you think

Now, i live in St. Louis, so i'm obviously not going to Dutch Cube Day or a Caltech competition soon, but there are competitions in my REGION that I drive to....

I personally doubt whether it would be possible to get the pieces to fit in the mechanism without being very fragile, though... and would the 3-corners twist well?

whats holding this up is that I need a core that can be casted. if I have to print each core then that will bump the price of each puzzle up by a huge amount
