This is a puzzle I came up w/ randomly one night when I was having trouble sleeping.
Also, a 2x2x4 that turned out a lot better than I expected for a first attempt on a more complex build. I used a razor saw, pocket knife (very sharp), epoxy putty and sand paper to mod the mechanism.

Now that is a very nice puzzle. Are you planning to fix up the stickers?

I kept things pretty simple. I twisted both layers 45 degrees and marked the cuts with a pocket knife. Then, I made the necisary cuts, sanded rough edges and superglued the "scraps" on to act as the extensions for the edge and corner pieces. I did not cut the edges (tried and failed because it was such a small cut) but instead just sanded them down untill they were even with the completed corners. Seams between glued pieces and the originals were smoothed out by filling with epoxy and sanding over.
