Hi again!

The second build is my Tower cube, my longest project to now!

The Tower Cube has 48 highly modified pieces with 148 stickers .

All the Sides of the octagon are the same size so when we do a 45 degrees rotation, it does not
change shape.

Ps.: This is unimaginably difficult to solve! I solve very easyly a 4x4x4, but this one, I can't even place the centers.

Difficult because....

1.every centre has his place. In a normal 4x4 they only need to be regrouped by colour.
2.The and 45 degrees to all the layers causes you to don't know what colours go together for the edges and the centrers.
3.The changing shape.
4. 8 colours for 10 sides

You just blew my mind. That is an awesome build. Great stickering, too.

I like the offset slices - 45 degrees between top and bottom etc. That's going to require some concentration to solve.

Wow. I verbally expressed my joy for this puzzle at first site. The video made me feel like how I did when I first started puzzling. I really am tempted to make one just for myself.

did you calculate how much you had to truncate to make it a regular octagon (is it a regular octagon?) or just sand untill it matched up?

...And QUINBLZs question could have been asked by me, too.

So, For the cutting, I've not calculated anything. But, it's not arbitrary. I've looked for an precise mark on the cube itself, and I've found!. When we look on the 4x4x4 centre, we see a little demarcation. It's like a 3x3x3 centre cap but glued i think. I've first sanded all the centres of the octagone do I know that they have exactly the same size. I've done the same thing with the up and down edges.

All those done, I've started by one edge of the 45 degres side. I sanded the edge and 2 center, to the moment that I have the identical side on both sides of the octagone. After, the corner Just over the edge.

Now that I had one "master" piece of each different piece. I've modified all the others one by one using the models.

I like it! By looking at this puzzle, I just learned how that misaligned look is made. A lot more simple than I thought!

I hate to bump something in my first post but I am planning on building this with a spare 4x4 and have a quick question. Is this made by turning every other layer of a 4x4 by 45 degrees and then cutting the corners that stick out in half? Thank you

Six Flags Elitch Gardens (the roller-coaster park in Denver, CO) contains a ride called the Tower of Doom. I get the feeling that if you were to scramble this Tower Cube, then "Doom" is exactly what would probably happen .
