Sorry if this is like a very simple question, but I really needed to know.

From what I know, it obviously is a collector's item. However, I need to know exactly how rare it is. Give me a price range if possible.


Reason why I'm asking: during December, I was in Singapore at one of the most famous cube shops there. It is known as Bloomington Greeting and they sell many puzzles.

I went into their stall, and saw them selling some Rubik's Rings. The guy running the shop knew that they had some value and explained to me that they didn't have much left. So, I bought it at about 19 USD.

I still couldn't believe I had just bought a Rubik's Rings that was actually being sold in a shop! I'm still suspecting that it might be a fake...

So there, I must know its actual worth. Sorry once again if this is like some simple question.

Now I'm more confused. I'm not really a collector so this is all very weird for me.

In September last year I bought this puzzle for $10.50, so I don't think that it is either rare or expensive, as it is a modern puzzle. The original Hungarian Rings (puzzle is flat) circa 1982, is much rarer, but there are also modern copies of this as well.

You never know, it might be worth something some day.

Puzzles do have a tendency to hold their value pretty well.

The rings and bricks are both from the late 90's. They originally were sold at Hesports Rubik's shop online for US$ 9.9. My 'bird' once told me 100k were made but not sold out. I've not seen any KO'S here yet.

Are Rubik's rings and Hungarian Rings the same puzzle? I have Hungarian Rings and I never bought Rubik's Rings because I thought they are the same, I try to collect only different puzzles.

Rubik's Rings and Hungarian Rings are not the same puzzle - see the entries in the Museum

They look about the same, only the Rubik Rings are at an angle and the Hungarian Rings are flat. Oh, and one is 2-colour while the other is 3.

I took a good look at the 2 puzzles, Hungarian rings has 4 colours, Rubik's rings has 3 colours, yes they are different, so another puzzle for my very long wishlist. I should have bought one when they were available everywhere some years ago, I did buy Rubik's Bricks !

I think also they have different number of beads, but I don't think this changes the solving of the puzzle much. Anyway, they are very different puzzles from a collecting standpoint, which was the starting point of this thread.
