Ever since I found a Sponge Bob Slide Cube on the flea market I jump whenever I see Sponge Bob, though not really believing that I will find anything new for my collection. It's just a reflex, why would there be more puzzles out there with him? Well, I have bought two Sponge Bob Magic Mirrors since and as I saw now there's even more to be had. Wow, who would have thought?

It is called Pyramix (not Pyraminx), and it is not really a puzzle, but more of a game with letters.

I just said it to avoid confusing it with a Pyraminx, which is a well known puzzle.
It had absolutely nothing to do with your spelling.

Your description of the item was not "pyramid", it was "tall pyramid puzzle on the right".
I am not sure how me or anyone else could mix that up with the pyraminx.

I have a few slide keychains, and a ruler with a slide on it as well. my niece was very big on sponge bob about 8 years ago, and has since given up on him. I have been told there is a box heading my way on a slow boat with other puzzles and toys inside. I'll post pictures when they finally arrive. Like you, I thought it was only the burger king puzzle.

The tall "pyramid on the right" is called a Pyramix puzzle made by Tiger in 1998. As Panda said, it's more of a toy than a puzzle. I bought it to help the little one with spelling in a fun sort of way.

Not really rare, but I received my V-Cube set yesterday (Black!), and I am enjoying them very much.

My DIY Pro-Minx and DRD kits just arrived. I've got some part clean up to do!

I already assembled the Pro-Minx (I couldn't wait...) but now I have to take it apart and take a pass to detail each part. I'll post in my Megaminx puzzle and mechanism comparison thread when I have a chance to get it fully tuned and take some pictures.

One of them seems to be a "make your love match" it has Chinese zodiac on it. Another has to do with the olympic games. These two I'm not sure of and I have to get my husband to translate when He's not busy with his toys The green one with the alphabet is some kind of a spelling game, and the other green one has 4 different faces to match up. They just have 8rings that spin and match up. They aren't really a puzzle per say, but interesting all the same.

They have the same principle as Dool-o-Rinth (I have one of those somewhere and 2 more on the way). I've seen these made of wood before, but this is the first plastic version I have seen. Michael tried to get the seller to give us a sample or sell us one at the HKTGF but it didn't happen. This was a nice surprise last week. I'll look it up, I think I saw it in Hoffman's book. A lot of back and forth to solve it if that makes sense, and there is only one way the ring can go on. A very simple puzzle that took about 10 minutes to solve, but a real challenge for my daughter. I'm going to try it with a class this summer.

My wife just brought me a package from Geert Hellings. He attended the GCD 09, and brought along a Rubik's 4x4. He had it personally autographed and signed for me by Peter Sebesteny (the inventor of the 4x4).

I was blown away. I cannot believe the kindness. It brought tears to my eyes to see such a kind gesture. Thank you so much, Geert.

Yay! The rest of my Tony Fisher's Golden Eggs arrived today! I now have the full Easter Set, plus two duplicates. Here's a picture, and video:

And my opinion of the puzzles:

Type to get if you can get only one: White or Gold
Personal Favorite: Gold/Silver Egg
Worst: Yellow. My Yellow Tony Fisher's Golden Egg had strange undertones of green on each piece. It was weird, and not appealing.

Quality is pretty good at first impression. I got this for a really good price but having thought about it that makes it more likely that this puzzle is a KO. The auction title said "by Gentosha", so i assumed it's a legitimate puzzle but if anybody knows of a clear-cut way to tell if this puzzle is a KO or not i'd love to know about it. So that if this ends up being a knockoff i can make a note to purchase a real bump cube in the future. I probably should have checked before i purchased, but i have it in my hands now so i can't change it.

Just Rox's measurement thread, she has comparisons of the KO to the original ones. The most obvious is the seams and the tensions.

That's what i initially thought, but she says its an edison minx. Not sure if they're one in the same, though it's unlikely. However, the logos do appear very similar.

Dunk it in a glass of water overnight to start with. I did that to my red one to get off most of the dirt. There aren't any metal parts so a bath is pretty safe

The Diansheng 3x3 is a knockoff of the Edison 3x3, and they also copied the logo.

I'm not sure if the Edison came before the Dian Sheng. I have had my DS cube for well over a year now.

For your viewing pleasure, here is a picture of a copy of a copy To the left is something called GANG BO, right DIAN SHENG, bottom EDISON MM. Logos on all of them are slightly different. The package insert for the GB and DS are in the picture, because those are clearly copies of each other! The packaging is exactly the same with the exception of the brand name.

I picked up the GB yesterday for a song. The DS was doubel the price in China, and that was almost 4x the price I would pay here. What's up with that?

I bought my first Edison 3x3x3 with stand in blister package in June 2006, as well as Edison 4x4x4, pyraminx and 'glow in the dark' 3x3x3 in November 2007.
All were bought in Korea.

Thanks for the information Georges. I am still not sure of when exactly the DS cubes came out. I have been otherwise occupied for the past 4 years, and cubes weren't high on my list of priorities.

It's a custom puzzle so you will have to buy one from Hidetoshi, but I don't think he is selling any.

My webcam doesn't do it justice unfortunately.
However it is really loose, and I read somewhere that these have thin plastic and can easily break, how true is this?

These all came over the past week. A Magellan, Blue Inca, Rubik's Deluxe with logo on red tile, and Green Revomaze Special Edition (#5 of 12). The Blue Inca is broken as you can see, something that was not disclosed in the eBay auction

Today I got some Vadasz cubes from fifisflea. I am very happy with them. I have one question though: on the 3x3 and 4x4 puzzles, are you meant only to push all the blocks through (so that the hole is always in the corner)? Or is it okay to separate the blocks on an edge so that the hole is not always on the corner?

My fortnightly package arrived today! It's been a good week with the v-cubes yesterday.

Mostly just puzzles, but 5 rarities in the bunch. A metalic missing link (blue-slightly damaged), A limited edition missing link, a zauberkruz (finally!), 2 rasin splitz magics. I'm not sure who sent the 4 balloons or why, but I have them.

Danny, the instructions I have say the corner of the Vazdez cubes should be empty.

I received my Custom Neon in the mail yesterday (thanks DLitwin!) I have to say that it's outstanding! I haven't scrambled it yet, as I wanted to get a couple of pictures with it outside when the light was decent. The craftsmanship and packaging are amazing, and I am overall very impressed. I imagine that I'll purchase one of the standard designs in the future, as I like the looks of those as well.

(Extra points if you can guess the inspiration for the design, and no, it's not my initial.)
