Some time ago, I have obtained a Dino Star puzzle of blue body with the common coloured circle segments.
Unfortunately, one pair of circle segments is missing.

Basically, these are simple plastic plates with a small rim at the outside that fits and holds the parts underneath the (blue) tips of the Dino Star. The straight part (line) of the circle segments is slightly edged to allow a good link-up (fit) between two elements of each pair.

So, it appears that it is relatively straightforward to repair the puzzle by making such plastic parts and squeeze these inside the puzzle. However, it might be better to remove the blue tips and to gently position the parts.

Looking through the opening of the missing pair of circle segments, I get the impression that the inside of the puzzle consists of a more or less cuboctahedron centre core onto with the 8 blue tips are positioned. Perhaps that means that each of the tips could be removed simply by means of pulling it away from the puzzle.
However, I am a bit (too?) careful to try this.

QUESTION: does anyone know the mechanism of the Dino Star puzzle, has anyone ever ‘opened’ such a puzzle or has anyone experience in repairing such as puzzle?

By the way, since it is a duplicate puzzle, it is available for trade.

Hello Geert.

I'm sorry to say that I cannot help you, since I have never tried to disassemble my Dino Star. I am not sure that you could fully disassemble it though. Maybe You could take all the little pieces appart, but pretty sure you wouldn't be able to remove those triangle shaped central pieces.

If eventually it's possible to get it disassembled, please let me know how to safety do it. I love to disassemble all my puzzles.

Thanks,

David
