Wayne, if you are not going to pursue your 6x6x6 any more, could you post some photos of the one you created?

Now that I have seen the video and know that the 6x6x6 is coming out, I can't wait to see pictures and video of a fully working rounded 7x7x7 cube.

I suppose there's no reason why not. I'll have to dig up everything I have.

In my opinion I think yours could hold up to speedcubing a lot better because i remember seeing the pieces. Sorry to sound mushy  but I'd love to have a autograph 6x6x6 cube from you because without you I wouldn't be coming here everyday just to check whats up since November 24 1999. Did I say I love it here!!!!! I know I posted April 22 but I came everyday just to read the posts. Dear God I hope there's a waiting list because I'd love to have one very soon. If possible but if not I'll just accept one coming any time. I think that would be cool and good if there are 2 distributors of the 6x6x6 cube. What do you think? Sorry for the long post my felling spilled out.

One last thing to mention. What would you name your 6x6x6 cube? Sausage cube 6x6x6?

I know it's usually considered bad form to dredge up old threads like this, but I'm very interested in the Olympic Cube N-sided puzzles. Has there been any developments lately? Are they going to start producing and selling these?

I'd definitely buy one of each!

So far there has been no further news about their launch.

Welcome to the forums.

You didn't happen to find this thread via the search function did you?

Thanks.

I found the topic through Google. Didn't happen to run a search before I posted, probably should have, eh?

My bad.

No, you did good. :P

We don't expect people to use the search function here, so you earn kudos.

I got to play with them at the caltech competition (thanks Frank) and asked what I'm sure are all the same questions that everybody else had asked.

The puzzles are amazing and I really wanted to take them apart to play with, but that was (obviously) out of the question.

There are 2 guys making the puzzles, and they're in no real hurry. They want to get it right. I personally believe they have, but after more questioning, I could tell there was still work to be done. However, they are VERY close. (Close as in Frank nearly set WR times in the 5x5x5 avg on the Olympicube)

Don't take my word on this ... this is only an inference.
Money didn't seem to be the problem, but it sounded like they're having trouble finding someplace to actually do the runs. Probably because it will require a significant investment from the company they choose on a puzzle that, well lets face it, doesn't have all that big of a market.

I wonder how big the market really is for 6x6x6?

Anyone have any data on how many 5x5x5's sell?

If the Rubiks.com re-release of the 5X5X5 this year is any indication, I think there is enough interest.

I bought one of the Rubiks.com 5X5s in the new hex package, but I'm greatly disappointed and frustrated with the constant locking. Solving a puzzle is one thing, fighting to get it to move correctly is uncalled for. I honestly think they could have done a much better job.
I'd much rather have an Olympic Cube that I won't have to fight with.

I saw an article in one of the business mags in my office that said interest in Rubik's puzzles is higher these days than it has ever been.

Sorry, I can't site the source specifically, it was a while ago and they usually get thrown away after a week.

how long have you had it/played with it? mine SUCKED at first, but has loosened up alot and spins great now (only an occasional center corner twist every now and then).
i agree that it could have been made much better (and im hoping that the new studio version i will be getting IS a vast improvement), but...keep working with it, you should end up liking it, except for the horrible stickers.

TheCube, please do not bump old posts. Create a new post and link to it instead. This one is being locked.
