My Jade Pyraminx wasn't turning so hot so I took it apart to lube it and adjust the tension when I found this.
My first guess was some sort of anti-theft device for stores with scanners, but in a Jade Club puzzle?
Anyone else seen one of these in a Meffert's puzzle?

It is an RFID chip that both the Jade Pyraminx and Jade Cube have in them. You should have received a small piece of paper with the unique serial numbers for each puzzle of the puzzles.

It's like that for evryone. Meffert's plan was to put these chip to know where as gone the jade puzzles. But if I'm right they never did anything with it, they left the project, if I'm right.

Looks like something from the Silver Shamrock Corporation

A forum search for RFID Meffert's produces a lot of interesting information on this project.

As has been stated, that's an RFID tag that was a large selling point of the jade puzzles! It's one of the reasons I got one!

But using an RFID reader on my phone (which has NFC functionality), it shows both my puzzles as zeroed out. :(

Bummer for me.
