This looks interesting. It was featured in the Thinkgeek newsletter:

http://www.thinkgeek.com/product/f15a/? ... h&t=futuro

It's a cube with color changing tricolored LED's - 9 on each face. It has accelerometers, makes noises and is programable. Has lots of potential to make new puzzles including an obvious Rubik's cube emulator.

Love the concept, only wish it could have 6 distinct colors, but I'm pretty sure there will be a v2!

It is really a great idea, especially because it says there at thinkgeek that will be a developers kit, so we will be able to create our own game variations for this cube, and it has a motion sensor! awesome idea!

Just a heads up that Think Geek has a 20% off coupon code BLUERUPEE that can be used with this so I finally got around to ordering one. Now I'm looking forward to the dev kit for it :)

Bump to an old topic but according to the Futuro Cube FaceBook page they are not an official Rubik's branded product! I have also seen a video demonstration of a new Rubik's Cube mode for it.

Still waiting for the dev ket though, but it is in beta testing.

edit: Their official site has been updated now too: http://www.futurocube.com/

The development kit is out, and it works!
I have managed to upload the example Rubik's Cube script to mine, and even edited it to include a simple scrambling routine. I also made a script that does a scrolling message around 4 faces of the cube.
