Mine has popped three times. I put it back together a couple times, but last time I just put it in a bag in a box in the closet and forgot about it. Seeing the new 2x3x4 inspired me to get out the 2x2x4 and reassemble it. But as I was laying out the pieces I noticed that it looks like one little tip of the core is broken. I don't really want to put any money into fixing it. So....

Now what? Throw it away? Sell the pieces to someone who may want them for replacements or modding?

Anyone interested?

Sadly, this is a very common problem with the 2x2x4 (happened to mine as well). Fortunately, you can just steal the equivalent part from a Rubik's Brand 2x2x2.

If you pm me with a picture of the piece you need I can give you a few extra.

Can someone explain how I could make the picture show up right here in the forum? I tried the Img tag in a PM but when I view the message only the word Image shows up, not the picture. What am I missing?

I probably broke the piece in the first place by popping it back together after a previous pop. This is my only shape-shifting cuboid. The new 2x3x4 looks like it might be fun, but will it also have problems like other shape-shifting cuboids have?

Under the main typing area, click the Browse button next to the Filename box and locate the picture. Then click Add the File just below that. Once that's done, you can then click Place Inline, which will put the picture wherever the cursor is.

If you reassemble the puzzle with the broken piece, it still works ok, you just need to be careful with it.

Mine has the same problem, but it is still useable.

Thank you for this confirmation. With much effort and several attempts I finally did get it back together yesterday. I'm not sure that it matters, but success came when I used the broken area as the place to insert the last middle piece.

Also with a bit of experimentation, I found an easier way to get the last corner in than the previous method used months ago. It involved trying to twist as many pieces out of the way as possible so there was a clearer path into the groove.

And finally, I was able to scramble and solve it a few times with no further incident, but, as you said, I was extremely careful and deliberate with each move.
