Ok, this all starts a few months ago when Meffert's released the pyraminx for speedcubing. For whatever reason I have never found any announcements about this puzzle, and the listing on their site still says "pre-order." Several of these puzzles were sent to Oscar Roth Anderson who made a video of a 3.54 average of 12 with it. (his YouTube channel is minxer2011.) I have played with this puzzle at the New Albany Open 2012. There are several videos on YouTube that demonstrate that the puzzle uses little plastic bumps instead of ball-bearings. I ordered this puzzle from HK nowstore, but I received a pyraminx that uses ball bearings and was not very good at all. It did have the Meffert's logo, and it came in a Meffert's bag with Meffert's stickers. I figured it must Meffert's pyraminx II. I ordered this puzzle again from Cube Depot, and again I got what I assume to be a Meffert's pyraminx II.
First, can someone confirm that the pyraminx's I received were Meffert's pyraminx II? The most defining characteristic of them was that the screws had very steep pitch, and they unscrewed lefty- tighty, righty-loosey. (backwards from normal.)
Second, does anyone here own a Meffert's pyraminx for speedcubing? If so, where did you buy it from?
Well, that's all. I'm pretty sure I set a record for most uses of the word "Meffert's" in one post.
