Hi Puzzle friends,
This year as usual I really want to go there, and now it looks everything is fine with my family and I could also organize my trip, so it is 99.99% that I'll be there! Who else will be there too?
Any informations when will it be held?
Olivér

It will probably in Gütersloh, as usual. The hints I have until now indicate it will probably be on the 9-10 Apr. weekend. Not sure yet, though. We have to wait for the official announcement.
I don't know yet if I can come, but I wish a lot. Last year there was a great and very familiar atmosphere and I liked it a lot!

Hi Friends,
Probably many of you already know, that Martin Brockmann will not organize the German Cube Day 2011. Some of you know the reason, and it is understandable.
I was really afraid that there will be no GCD this year, so I have contacted Ron van Bruchem (who organized the German Open last years at same time and venue) and asked him about the GCD 2011 and GO 2011.
He answered me the following:
Martin Brockmann will not organise a German Cube Day. Now Sébastien Auroux and I are trying to organise it ourselves in the same venue. More news will follow.
So it looks we can hope that one of the most important event of the year will be held!
I hope everything will go fine, and I can meet with many of you there!

I'm in contact with Ron, and J.L.M. Ron wrote this to J.L.M.: "We will allow some tables for collectors/sellers. But we want to have more room for competitors"So I think there will be a cube day, but a bit smaller than last year. I have already asked for "my tabe(s)". So I think if some of you would like to come and sell you need to do the same. Just wrote Ron, and ask for a table.

I might have considered forking out the hundreds of dollars a plane ticket would cost, but I have the FE exam on the 9th! (The Fundamentals of Engineering Exam is kind of like an exit exam for all of engineering school. It has EVERYTHING on it.)
If Claus or Frank Tiex sees this, I would love it if you brought some of my puzzles with you if you go!

I'll also be there both days. As usually for Cube Days I'll have some puzzles for exchange with me. Are there any other which will try to benefit from the competition to meet other collectors? 38 guests so far. I hope that they all are collectors and show their trade items. Meet you there.

As I am a collector without any commercial interest, I am not willing to pay 20€ extra for an additional table to show items. This wasn't necessary on all other events I attended. It seems, there is no other option to go. Although I have a couple of new interesting items to show, I finally decided not to come to the GCD this year and to hope for the DCD in October (my assumption, not announced yet).
See you there - Frank

See you there - Frank Where did you get that 20€? Because at the official site I can't find it, and I did not get any letters from the organizers that I need to pay this extra fee. And I'm sure they know I will came... But of course for me, it is understandable to pay this amount of money, because I'm willing to sell puzzles. But I really do not understand why they want to ask money from collectors and builders, who only want to show their stuff. Or maybe bring some puzzle to swap. (and they do this not for profit) I'm really sorry, to hear that you wont come, but I understand it. See you at DCD 2011 (I hope)

Ron van Bruchem wrote that to me, when I asked him about tables. The wording was "cost per table 20 EUR for the weekend (not including entrance fee)", so it is clear, no misunderstanding possible. (I think I can cite this here without asking for permission before, as it is no personal discussion, but an official statement of the organizer.) If these are the rules, I accept it and make my decision based on it.

No photos which are worth showing. On sunday present were ClausWenicker, Christoph Lohe, Thomas Lohe, Oliver Nagy and me. No other collectors. But since there are so few occasions to meet I am still satisfied.

I was a bit sad abut the number of the sellers 4 (including me) on Saturday, and 3 on Sunday. I hope the DCD will be much better. I will download my Photos soon, and add them here. We need to start to think about organizing more of these events (OK, not like this, but Cube days)! It would be fun to meet in other places as well. For example Sweden, Spain, France... There are so many collectors around Europe. I hope I will have chance to meet as many of you as I can.

We had German exchange students come to my school today. Is German Cube Day well known over in Germany? I asked the exchange students if they were familiar with German Cube Day. Unfortunately they said no. That made sad. Oh well, shade (<- this is deutsch).
