I'm coming up from around Boston, and since the competition registration starts around 9 am or so, my family is going down 1 day early. I'll be leaving around 3 on the day before, and will be around Valhalla around 8ish I would guess if we stop for some food. Then we'll just stay the night in a hotel, and go to the competition in the morning.

Here is an official announcement from the organisational team: Organizational Team wrote: Hello Everyone, The Westchester Fall 2008 Competition is coming up on Saturday, and we just have a few notes we would like to share about your role in the competition. First, all competitors must be familiar with the WCA regulations, and you should look them over, even if you have before. The regulations can be found here: http://www.worldcubeassociation.org/regulations/ As for directions and locations, I would advise those of you who are using GPS systems to use the address "Westchester Medical Center" and then follow the directions given from the competition page or from Google maps. For those of you using Google maps, please use the link provided here, as all other links from Google maps are slightly off. The directions and Google maps page are here: http://maps.Google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en≥ocode=&q=cedarwood+hall&jsv=137c&sll=41.09216,-73.780231&sspn=0.067533,0.11055&ie=UTF8&latlng=41083369,-73807570,9167994234363906385&ei=AhomSZqfM4aCNIvguYoN&cd=2 http://www.freewebs.com/westchestercubi ... evenue.htm The registration cost is $5 per competitor, and anyone who would like to buy pizza during lunch may do so for $2. The competition starts at 9:00AM, and should end at about 5:30PM. Please feel free to post this email on any cube related site or pass it on to cubers who may not be preregistered, as I hope that this email will provide information to everyone who plans to come. Good luck to everyone, do the best you can, and lets see how many records we can break!

Uhm drew, i believe registration is around 9am, so if you want to compete you might want to show up earlier.

im going to be getting there at around 9:00, im competing in 2x2, 3x3, and magic.
unfoortunatly, my latest mod has had a bit of disaster....i was building an edges only cube, and i had cut all the pieces from plastic cards, adn de stictered and sanded my 3x3. when i went to glue the pieces on, the glue overfload, and spilled all into the cube, so i am not going to be able to bring it, becasuse it will take me a few days to clean up the pieces.
i will bring my half truncated cube, and capsule cube, and whatever i can stirr up tonight.

It was about 3.5 - 4 hours from the Boston area. However, there was some traffic, so I think it could've been 2.5-3 hours had there been none.

Okay, I need to know some of your real names if you're going because if i see you, and call you by your username, it would sound weird. lol. Like for example, if i say "hey, ihatefraulwalgreen, its me" everyone else is gonna say stuff behind my back like "weirdo" lol.

my commute was only 30 min.
but putting that aside....IT WAS AWSOME!!!
playing with all of drews new stuff was great, as well as seeling what other peopple built, but i think the best part was meeting eachother in person, you are all great ppl, and i cant wait till the next event!
P.S....the teraminx was like no other puzzle, as well as adam's super x cube, or what ever its called(the 2x2 and dino thing)

Got a 27.14 average on the 3x3x3, which was a lot better than I thought I'd get. My little brothers did pretty well too, Timmy got a 52 average on the 3x3x3, which is 10x better than what he was getting at home. I absolutely bombed 2x2x2 and magic, but hey, that's where I'll improve Unfortunately 4x4x4 and 5x5x5 were canceled, which was basically what I was looking forward to the whole time, but whatever, that's life. I also got to meet a couple of builders, like Puzzlemaster42 and Drewseph. I wondered where Timmy was for like 2 hours, and I found him and he said, "Sorry Brendan, I'm hanging out with all the cool people" which I guess was where the builders' table was I hope that little 8 year old wasn't too annoying... I'd upload some pictures to Drewseph's thread, but my SD card reader on my computer seems to be broken !

That was the greatest experience of my life. I loved playing with Drew's, Adam's, and Scott's puzzles. They were absolutely fantastic. I can't thank you guys enough for the opportunity to play with them. On top of all the excitement of the custom puzzles, I also got a new personal best of 31.68. I couldn't have asked for any more. To everyone who came, I enjoyed meeting you. I hope we can do this again! Also a special thanks to Drew who answered all of my questions and accepted all of my requests for pictures. I know you said you thought it was odd for people to think of you as a celebrity, but that's the price you have to pay for being an awesome puzzle builder.

do they run this every year? if so lets make it tradition to all meet up at the westchester comp like we did yesterday. and dont feel bad about doing poorly at the comp, i did alright on the 2x2, but totaly bombed the 3x3 aand magic as well. on the 3x3 i didnt know how to use the competition timer(they take too long to turn green) and DNFed twice, and the magic i came in last, all those little girls beat me because my fingers are too big, and i cant pick up the magic off of a table when its laying flat.
