There were several auctions of rare/custom puzzles from the same seller. Half of this auctions claim the puzzle were invented by Dieter Gebhardt. Does anybody know anything about this person?

He is member number 177 of the NKC (Nederlandse Kubus Club, or Dutch Cube Club in English).

His profile in the Directory of Puzzle Collectors & Puzzle Sellers (2007 edition) notes he is the author of the book "Bandaged Cubes", and many articles in the CFF, as well as co-author and contributor to books of the Slocum Puzzle Foundation.

In fact, he recently authored an article in CFF 74, and I believe possibly one in CFF 75 (it is at home, so I can't check).

Dave

P.S. As president of the NKC Geert Hellings could probably tell us more. If you aren't yet a member of the NKC, you should be! :)

Dieter Gebhardt is a very well-known collector and solver of rotational puzzles as well as other brainteasers.

Dieter has written dozens of articles about solutions for puzzles and about the internal mechanisms of puzzles.
These include most of the puzzle modifications of Tony Fisher such as his skewb modifications and his 333 and 444 cuboid modifications.
Indeed Dieter is also an expert on bandaged 333 cubes as well as on off-center cubes (bandaged Fisher cubes). He has written various articles and books on this subject and has recently sold some of these puzzles via a friend at ebay.
Some more of these puzzles will be auctioned in the coming time via the same channel.
Dieter also wrote some elegant solutions on more recently developed puzzles such as the Pentagonal Prism and the Master Pyraminx.

Dieter has a lot of contacts with other famous puzzle inventors and makers such as Jean-Claude Constantin (who used to live in the same town N├╝rnberg in Germany) and Tony Fisher.
Dieter is retired and has no phone or internet.
He is a very kind, gentle, modest and knowledgeable person.
Attached is a picture of Dieter (unfortunately not in high resolution).

Geert

This same seller has had puzzles from the bandellow collection. Why are these two "famous" collectors selling off their puzzles?
